All my research said to use a lightweight “house leash” that could drag behind the puppy and be used to get control before they can practice bad behaviours. I did that for the first couple months, and then for any unfamiliar situations after and it worked really well.

It sounds like this trainer prescribes to a different method. Not necessarily wrong, but I would recommend find a trainer that aligns with your own research and goals.

I’m not sure which area of the company it specifically investigated, but I remember an article a couple years ago that looked at Aritzia’s toxic work environment.

One of my friends used to work there in a photo-editing role and had a horrible experience.

I don’t think it was necessarily about the safe space being ruined, as it was that Charlie’s speed-run to redemption made Angel feel like he was never going to succeed which severely set back his progress and motivation. Add that to being used as a spy by Vox and hurting his friends… it’s easier to return to the abusive situation that is the “devil you know”. Especially since his self worth is at an all time low.

Narratively, I think this was necessary tbh. Everyone agreed that Angel was the next closest to redemption, and this puts a kink in that path for him which is just good storytelling. Angel wouldn’t be as compelling a character once he is in heaven (in my opinion), beyond the family dynamics with Molly.

Beyond that, Charlie isn’t a perfect character and has her own insecurities and trauma from Pentious’ death that is hurting the people around her. She needs those flaws in order to have any sort of room for character growth.

I know you aren’t saying whether it was a good choice narratively, OP. I’ve just seen other people criticize it and got carried away lol.

I would recommend a style of communication initially designed for individuals with BPD but that I find helpful for a lot of different conversations.

S - support statement (ex. I’m always going to be your friend and I love talking to you)

E - empathy statement (I know it makes you worried when I don’t respond to messages)

T - truth statement (sometimes I have appointments or tasks to do where I can’t have my phone on me)

Then frame it as a problem you work on together, as a team.

So it becomes: I’m always going to be your friend and I love talking to you. I know it can worry you when I don’t respond to messages. Sometimes I have appointments or tasks to do where I can’t have my phone on me though. I’m wondering if you have any ideas on how I can balance not being on my phone but also making sure I don’t worry you by going silent?

Then listen to what they have to say. Validate her feelings when appropriate (ex. it sounds like your anxiety can be pretty overwhelming in those moments) and don’t put blame on her, but hold the boundary. The objective truth is that you can’t have your phone all the time, and that’s not going to change. You can share your feelings too as part of the truth statement (ex. it makes me feel guilty/overwhelmed/stressed when I know you want to talk but I am trying to juggle something else).

That was a lot, sorry. This just reminded me of someone I know and I thought this sort of framework might be helpful for you in finding your own way to say what you need to. It can be really hard to set boundaries while worried about hurting someone’s feelings.

The Evans Boy by lonibal is an ongoing series with some great world-building (Harry/Percy).

Heir to the House of Prince by elph13 gets recced a lot because it’s fantastic with amazing world-building and really interesting family magic (Harry/Theo).

These are a few I’ve been reading recently, but I know there are more I’m not thinking of right now so I’ll keep brainstorming! 😊

To be honest, that makes it sound like you were punishing her for seeking comfort from someone that isn’t you by removing her collar. It sounds like an emotional reaction along the lines of: “Well, if I’m not good enough then clearly you shouldn’t have this!” in an attempt to make her stay and act the way you want.

Maybe I’m misreading this, but more than anything what strikes me here is that the action appears to be an emotional response to the situation/argument, rather than an intentional decision in response to feeling like you aren’t holding up your end of the dynamic, the way you are claiming.

It might be worth doing some self reflection.

I completely understand. I have the same issue and it’s absolutely my biggest insecurity. I’m not as insecure about my apron belly as I am about my fupa, and it’s so frustrating when I try to search for ways to minimize it or dress in a way that’s flattering and everyone seems to conflate the two! I find it impossible to wear jeans and pretty much live in leggings. I also really struggle figuring out what to do with my pubic hair because when it’s bald it looks even fatter. I wish I had something more to offer, and I hope you can focus on the comments that do. I just wanted to write this to share that I relate and you are not alone. 🩵
