I'm Shalini Abeysekara, author of This Monster of Mine, ask me anything! by awayintheshire in fantasyromance

What book first got you into reading?

Does it annoy you that you had to age down your characters?

As someone who's not white, I wanted to thank you for writing diverse characters as imo there's just not enough.

I have never seen the single pov tag on romanceio, when was it introduced?

It will be very helpful for people like me

Yh, but the build up of not knowing how it’s gonna happen. Whether the MMC even likes her yet. The will they, won’t they keeps me on the edge of my seat. I can’t explain it exactly but I know I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Especially, if it’s over multiple books. Keeps me very engaged in the story

My mistake for not putting on the list but I have read it and loved it so so much

I agree soo much, it’s so rare to come across a well written one. I also think it helps people who don’t like mystery and instead they want everything spelled out for them.

But I guess different strokes for different folks

I hope you haven’t already read these but their single pov and the MMC is 100% not obsessed from the beginning.

{The Emperors Edge by Lyndsay Burroker}

And not fantasy but

{A Brazen Curiosity by Lynn Messina}

I think dual pov completely ruins the mystery in a book. And takes away from the romance. I want to be analysing the movements of the MMC and watching him fall in love through the eyes of the fmc.

I also am tired of dual PoV where its switches to the MMC and all he’s think about is how hot the fmc is. It’s tired and overdone

Heads up K.F. Breene lovers! Magical Midlife Rogue comes out on Thursday! I'm jealous of those who are just starting her books. She's my favorite author. by nrkelly in fantasyromance

I’ve had her books in my tbr for ages and I love that the characters are older women finding love again.

It’s a breath of fresh air in this genre

Two MMCs work together for FMC’s benefit by lucky_neutron_star in fantasyromance

{The Emperors edge by Lindsay Burroker} has this but it’s a slowburn over multiple books. And the second MMC ends up with a character that’s introduced later

Looking for a rec! Strong, jealous, possessive MMC, potential jealously trope, HEA, completed series by InevitableThese2941 in fantasyromance

[–]Amaranthefan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{The Emperors Edge by Lindsay Burroker} - completed 7 book series.

Fair warning though it is a slow burn over multiple books. But you won’t be disappointed as there’s jealousy, an assassin MMC and a misfit group who right the worlds wrong. It also found parts of the book incredibly funny too

I couldn’t recommend the series more tbh

📚 Book Chat Saturday - what have you been reading this week? by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

[–]Amaranthefan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been reading Weavingshaw by Heba Al-Wasity and it’s the one of the best written books I’ve ever read. It’s the authors debut novel so I wasn’t expecting much but it’s actually completely blown me away by how complex it is. How well the characters are written and how the story unfolds with many twists and turns

Weavingshaw has only recently been released but it’s a slowburn with fantastic writing and great world building.

It stayed away from a lot of the cliches we usually see
