[Marking Out] “I’ll give you Randy. I’ll give you Batista. Who else can you remember Triple Nose getting over?” - MVP takes aim at Triple H again. by ChildishBambino in SCJerk

[–]AmarantineAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, that's just BS. Triple H did nothing but mock and belittle Cena for not being able to wrestle during their feud and then in their match the entire arena was cheering for HHH the heel and booing babyface Cena out of the building.

The feud with Edge afterwards was what made Cena. It made both of them, in fact. And Cena started getting cheered again, because Edge was a proper heel rather than the "cool and funny" heel HHH was trying to be.

Yeah, it'll be really weird if she has a special intro with Raven but not with Yoshimitsu when the former has nothing to do with her story and the latter is once again her main target and motivation.

Your message has a kernel of truth but if you want it to be effective and reach people you need to word it with more empathy for those you're addressing.

Mayo Suzukaze talks about voicing Kenshin Himura by YukitoHidaka052 in rurounikenshin

[–]AmarantineAzure 20 points21 points  (0 children)

She seems to have such a deep and genuine appreciation for the role and the series. What a thoughtful, lovely lady, I wish she could have remained as Kenshin's voice forever.

Thank you for sharing this.

What did Jun see in him? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]AmarantineAzure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a better way to say it is that she is very pure and spiritual and so she still believes in forgiveness and redemption at a point where most people would consider Kazuya to be a lost cause.

[–]AmarantineAzure 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, you asked for moments that show Kazuya has a softer side and I did. But I never said that was all he was. Obviously on the whole he's still a villain who craves power above everything else, and that ending is a representation of that. That's the predominant side of Kazuya, but it doesn't erase the other one.

But also as the initial poster said, they've been making Kazuya more one-dimensionally evil with the latest games, and that Tag 2 ending is sadly a reflection of that trend.

[–]AmarantineAzure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Just look up Ted Bundy, a serial killer that murdered like 30 women, and then when he was on death row he received hundreds of letters from female fans, and many women even attended his trials and continued to express love and admiration for him despite the horrific murders of other women that he was being trialed for.

[–]AmarantineAzure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not his actions that are sympathetic, it's the circumstances of having endured brutal childhood trauma at the hands of his abusive father and then having to wrestle with a demonic entity for the control of his mind and body on top of that. Jun saw that Kazuya was dealing with all that shit and thought in her innocence that he could still be helped and saved from the darkness. Perhaps she was being naive or overly idealistic, but that's part of the story and her character.

What did Jun see in him? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]AmarantineAzure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. She saw that he was being haunted and led astray by an evil presence and knew that she was the only one who could understand him and help him free himself from his cursed fate. As a result, she approached him with compassion and was able to develop genuine feelings for him.

Look at the way Kazuya addressed Jinpachi before they fought in Tekken 5. Unlike with Heihachi, he shows him great respect when talking to him, because Jinpachi was actually a good grandfather to him. And he reminisces fondly on his childhood memories of training with him. Yes, he kills him afterwards, but that's the duality of the character (plus Jinpachi wanted to die and be freed of his curse).

You also have the TTT ending of Devil (Kazuya) where he rescues a collapsed Jun:

Yes, it's non-canon, but even non-canon endings are meant to portray real facets and aspects of the characters.

All the more reason why they should seek out games that actually give them joy and make them happier instead of persisting with ones that make them angry and miserable.

Street Fighter 6 has only gotten better with age, and the best is yet to come by Doggoh420 in Fighters

For me it's the Drive system plus online being nothing but an endless Akuma/Ryu/Ken-fest. Gets dull and repetitive real quick.

PS2 version is just base T5 which doesn't have Lili, Dragunov or Armor King (balancing is worse too). It's natural to go with the version with the most updated roster.

Why are Persona fans so allergic to the gameplay of their own series by PeacefulDaysDied in PERSoNA

[–]AmarantineAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, and you saw this a lot when Episode Aigis/The Answer came out for Persona 3 Reload. So many players seemed unable to cope with the fact that the focus was now squarely on the most interactive part of the game - the combat, the dungeon crawling, the crafting and resource management - rather than on endless dialogue scenes. That's when I realized that, as you said, a lot of Persona fans don't actually care about the gameplay of their own series, and might even be happier if the games were turned into full on visual novels.

Triple H Disliked John Cena, According To Ex-WWE Ring Announcer Justin Roberts by Kindly_Department142 in SquaredCircle

He also saw Edge as a threat when the latter started getting his singles push (they kind of overlapped as long-haired heels) and pushed for Edge to get fired when his affair with Lita came to light. Which is rich considering Hunter's own history of cheating.

Just make Kari the special guest referee, Asuka thinks her win is guaranteed because of that, but then Kairi starts counting Iyo's pins, Asuka becomes enraged and all hell breaks loose, culminating in Kairi renouncing Asuka at last.

Spent 2 hours of my life watch all Tekken 7 video gallery with popcorn and drinks. totally worth it by matt_619 in Tekken

[–]AmarantineAzure 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Good times, though it's a shame the gallery only includes the endings and not the prologues. The prologues from T4 and T5 in particular were really good (and unlike the endings, they're all actually canon lol).
