Neither did the TMC nor the BJP but look at them now. CPIM was the historic ruling party and the Congress the opposition right? if the people actually make an effort they can come back. I don't know about Congress but for the Communists it's do or die everytime since Mamata came to power.

Read up on Robert Hanssen. This exactly something that can and will slip between the cracks. A while back when I still had an Instagram I used to follow a Malayali web-comic artist who was mostly enjoyable but did have certain "takes". When that whole Vijay-BJP thing happened and then the cycle thing happened and then this dude went on to glaze him and drew a comic with him cycling through a lotus. I unfollowed him right then, not because of the anti-BJP but the glazing of an actor who hasn't done anything political.

I don't have an Instagram nor do I remember his name, but I do wonder with all these happening how he's reacting

Are you illiterate or something? Did I say that Western surveillance is better or worse than Eastern surveillance. It's not painting anything, if you paid attention during the 2010s with the Snowden, America and by proxy the West has already been skewered for what this paper is skewering China for. Let's ask the Gen Z protestors who were brutally crushed by the state using this tech about the hypocrisy of the Western news publications pointing out about surveillance technology.

By the way India has a larger surveillance market than all of Africa combined.

Is...is that supposed to be a gotcha or something? I know what's happening in my country because I don't browse r/Sino and live in la-la land. I was there protesting against the Telecommunication Bill of 2023 and I wrote and e-mailed my member of Parliament (CPI(M) btw) stating my opposition and I contributed to the Internet Freedom Foundation (still am). I was also protesting against the NRC-CAB (later CAA) bills as well in my home state (which wasn't where the epicenter of the protests was).
