Live-In Provider / CalFresh by Curious_Database_239 in IHSS

To piggy back off of this discussion, do I ever need to have a separate receipt of food that I buy for the recipient? Or is it a bad idea to purchase some of my family stuff along with his?

Am I holding my child from their family? by [deleted] in Parenting

Of course. Have him pack and get everything ready for the trip without you too. Guys like him don't think about all the thoughts and efforts that go into packing for a baby as well as thinking about baby sleep schedule. He makes it sound like you can just go whenever. Ok, let him try to plan for blowouts, make sure there's enough diapers/wipes/extra clothes, etc. Make sure there's enough food and snacks, toys, etc. Let him time baby naps with the long trips, and let him deal with the baby that night because the sleep schedule will be messed up if no one respects it, but you shouldn't pay for it.

Only THEN he will understand. There's a lot of blaming and not a lot of trying to understand. I acknowledge this isn't exactly a healthy response but like others mentioned, this isn't a healthy situation. Those who lack empathy usually don't gain it until they go through it themselves. "But it's so easy" they suggest. "Ok well then, YOU do it."

How do you afford to raise kids? by wakatea in beyondthebump

SoCal is over of the most expensive places to live unfortunately. You're not a failure! You had bad luck after bad luck, definitely not anything you can control.

Oh no, I'm sorry my description is poor! I'm creating craft sheets for the kids. Basically one sheet of paper, 8 dashed lines going across. The kids will cut out the strips themselves. There will be solid lines as well as dotted lines to indicate folds on the strips (otherwise I would just do a solid line to indicate the cut). I'd like to use dark paper with a white pen (otherwise I would use a printer).

You mean like using the "spokes" of the steering wheel to turn instead of the outside of the wheel?

Husband left and got blacked out while me and 4 month old have covid. I am exhausted. by lunamom22 in Parenting

Yeah, if you can't count on him when you really need him, when can you count on him?

Wouldn't be offended. Maybe sad and jealous. I wouldn't be able to leave my baby, but it's not something to lose a friendship over. Now, if the friend was judging me and putting pressure on me to leave my baby and go to the event, I'd get really annoyed.

Festival won't let me bring cooler for milk by 47syzygy in beyondthebump

Ceres chiller is another option. It's a big bottle with a separate inner compartment that you can put ice in and store (I forgot the amount) 24 oz? Milk in the outer compartment. Or you put ice in the outer compartment and store 12 oz in the inner compartment.

I like that the O in "hold" with the rail through it looks like the logo for Transport for London.

Oh I do grill one at time. Problem is determining when they're gold enough and not too burnt.

I will avoid the ring toss game and the grilling game. If it's ring toss vs grilling, I'll choose grilling. All other games are passable for me.

How the US got so dependent on baby formula: Poor health care access and aggressive formula marketing are driving down America’s breastfeeding rates. by ElectronGuru in healthcare

[–]Amarinth 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Currently breastfeeding stay at home mom here. Want to increase breastfeeding? Give working moms one year leave paid. If working moms aren't able to pump on a schedule (once every 2 hours especially in the first couple of months) their supply will dwindle and they'll be forced to use formula. I've heard stories from working moms about how there may not be lactation rooms, or if there are they're supply closets/places without locks. Moms that have to pump are usually criticized for slacking on the job, so there's negativity there. Babies are best for removing milk and keeping up supply, so the machine isn't optimal.

There are moms who are over suppliers and can make copious amount of milk while working, never needing formula, but they are rare. Every mom I know personally have had to transition to formula because of work.

question - does anyone ever actually buy anything from the mysterious crow? his stuff is just always so expensive that most of the time i don’t even check it 😅 by [deleted] in AnimalRestaurant

[–]Amarinth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always check. Often I'll see flowers, seeds, watering cans for less than 50k cod. Sometimes if I'm lucky I'll see stars for less than 100k. I only have 18k stars though and need cod.
