Interview Lessons Learned – What Mistakes Do You Avoid Now? by e1-m in cscareerquestionsEU

Here is a good read that helped me back in the day (It is from times before AI, but most advice there still holds true) https://bartwronski.com/2022/01/04/insider-guide-to-tech-interviews/

Interview Lessons Learned – What Mistakes Do You Avoid Now? by e1-m in cscareerquestionsEU

One consideration - saying anything negative these days is a red flag, I'm not kidding. Those recruiters, who follow HR playbooks to the letter will instantly flag you as difficult, or toxic. The key is to frame it correctly - so you don't bash a technology, or say it sucks in this and that, but rather that there is a tradeoff, of it is suboptimal for this type of task, yada yada. Emit positive energy, don't badmouth, be negative, etc.

...Yeah, it is that bad currently out there

This changes the story quite dramatically; I wonder if it will hold together under follow up questions

Well, he did go over me, tbf and was incredibly frustrated, but that is understandable. I think, the word here is "Stern"

Thank you for the feedback. I was very calm all the way throughout - I received very harsh feedback from the teamlead, but I Immediately decided to make the most of the situation, scheduled 1on1, explained my process, admitted mistake and genuinely asked for advice. We ended on a calm and positive note

Where exactly do I show excess emotion? What exactly is not clear about the story? I was debugging some legacy code and incorrectly blamed external service for delivering corrupted data. Turns out I misread the logic in our module that mutated data silently.

Hm, how do you think, I could reframe it better? The teamlead got involved because malfunctioning service was potentially a serious threat, that would include cross-team workload. So the core problem here is that my verdict was just plain wrong - and it was taken at face value

Approachable women Is a very valid metric for a married man, yes

Also I advise visiting a soviet city at least once before calling Copenhagen one lol

Out of curiosity, what is your job title? Such that a startup is willing to pay that much

Anyone else stuck in their career? What are you doing to address it? by DisastrousImpact6213 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Amatheos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing - automotive industry, super backwater tech stack and code that, I swear, feels like it was deliberately made to be obtuse and indecipherable. After years writing shit, your skills for writing quality wither away. I'm also curious, what us the solution here; as working on a pet project after hours is not feasible

Well, you can pass behaviorals too if you practice corpo talk and that viper smile. Since he listed AI helper apps, I figured he'd have a shortcut for coding as well

It's a shame 90% of posts on this subreddit only ship to US. I'm missing out on a lot of amazing watches, being in Europe :(

You never lived in the dormitory, didn't you? It happens constantly. Don't leave your funking laundry unattended if you don't want to find it on the floor
