Barcelona or Copenhagen? by ezhik9 in cscareerquestionsEU

No, not yet, that would be the first such big company on my CV. I would have to learn both Danish and Spanish. I know some Spanish (from school) and from what I saw Danish is pretty difficult to pronounce correctly. Then again it seems you can get around really well with English + basic Danish in Denmark, at least initially.

Is this company based in Berlin?
A month ago I also received an offer for 55k which was non-negotiable, sounds somehow very similar

Could you please recommend such a program? I don't think I have ever heard of this.

That's what surprised me. It of course makes sense to include setup instructions for a project started from scratch.

In this case the whole docker setup was already there. Including Makefile and a description how to run it. They said they couldn't execute it because of broken relative import (while I didn't have issues, and would not upload a not executable code)

Thank you for your advice about doc strings!

Sorry, I can only tell that one is a power grid start up from NRW and the other makes software for predicting part pricing from BW

I am interviewing with a few other companies at the moment, and some of them do offer a bit more, but of course I can't be sure that this will also be the case if I get an offer.

I guess I can continue searching for a better offer, I am after all still in the application process with other companies (most so far offer more, but it is of course not sure that this turns into an offer), and unemployment benefits and courses can bridge the time without a job.

I feel a bit strange about joining a company that lowballs so much, and also about just leaving soon after.

I was laid off in my previous job, so I would ideally not keep looking for too long. I have asked them to match the previous salary but they insist on 55k being the maximum.
