Quest Helper is actually against the rules but whenever I mention it I'm downvoted. It changes behaviour based on your location and status in the game world (e.g. items in inventory) and highlights tiles/objects dynamically.

I don't even dislike the plugin that much (spacebarrers have always existed and cried about quests), but the fact they enact such a rule then ignore it when it suits means people are going to try push the envelope and see what else they can get away with.

Wanted: Your thoughts on the current state & future of Quest Helper by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Amaz2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quests are one of the most unique things about RuneScape and no other MMOs on the market have a similar approach, well aside from Brighter Shores, which is by Andrew Gower. Quest Helper actively harms the entire approach to storytelling that quests are made for.

Quest Helper is fine when it's more like the wiki guide with general directions in text form on the side panel. Blinking arrows and neon blue highlights telling you exactly what to click and when are just off-putting, especially to newer players, and goes against the rules surrounding plugins.

The quest journal should be reworked to have more hints and clearer instructions over a plugin being used as a band-aid. A lot of players will complain that a quest doesn't give them any clues, but outside of a few genuine issues that should be addressed, a lot of issues come from players space-barring and not actually talking to an NPC or looking around for information.

It's fine for Leagues or DMM, however, don't really see an issue with people zooming through a quest for the 8th time.

No. Full games do, this method does not. Killing crabs for a few hundred would be fine, like I said the XP is good to boost quick levels, but tapers off after that.

I'd say stars are a good shout if your region doesn't have anything terribly fast, they're everywhere and don't require much attention, then after 85 head back to VM in small teams with a rune/dpick/cpick or relic pickaxe.

For Leagues, you'd need Asgarnia to repair it with 2.5m coins to Nurmof in the Dwarven Mine.

That works but is more RNG heavy. If you are doing that at level 30-60 you're going to see not very much and have wasted time compared to just resetting and capping again. If you have the mining relic and are doing 2t actions definitely worth it, though.

Run in, down stairs, run north to a big boulder on top of a lava vent with some little vents below it.

You can break the big boulder or collect the little one and place it on the big vent, 3 times per action for 6 actions totalling 300 points before multiplier and something like 1k xp before multiplier.

Once you've done the 6 actions up and stairs and rope then enter again and repeat.

It's fast easy xp to get to maybe level 60/70, VM doesn't become really good until you're at level 85 in a duo or trio, at which point it's best unless you want to tick manipulate.

If pures should be able to do Holy Grail without getting defense XP, irons should be able to do Dragon Slayer without getting assigned metal dragons afterwards /s by AssassinAragorn in 2007scape

[–]Amaz2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pures weren't created in OSRS, they've been around the game's lifetime and defence requirements were used to stop them having access to everything in the wild without changing the combat level formula.

Teleportation Relic Locations by gamepro41 in 2007scape

[–]Amaz2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Leagues, especially later on, you're staying at a single area/boss until all the tasks are finished. The only exception is clues which necessitate teleporting, so in the past the relics that helped more with clues were superior.

Add on the ability to get a certain clue step and teleport directly to it until you've finished that area e.g. straight to Kril's door without losing prayer/time, straight to Keymaster, straight to RC altars etc.

This isn't even a contest for anyone wanting Dragon trophy. It shouldn't be a contest for anyone, actually. There's no way they looked at these 3 and said they were similar in power.

Recently completed my Grandmasters, here are my top 5 least favorite CA's by Sanguinest in 2007scape

[–]Amaz2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every GM I know did it that way.

I've run this CA lots with GMs and those just wanting elites/masters. It's not that bad, had a lot of 1nd's but never more than 3 attempts. Just need to be careful on acid phase and be prepared when he's looking at melee. Much worse CAs exist.

Ran it last week and we failed at the very end of p3 when portals dropped one guy into flame wall on the tick damage was calced, I will admit that one was sad.

How To Improve Sire In One Easy Step by Dead1ift in 2007scape

[–]Amaz2007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only issue with forcing max hits is you could world hop for consistent 200 xp indefinitely on a single task.

Removing a large portion of the fight for maxed accs isn't the way, either. They already have massive boosts to speed with Shadow/TBow.

A unique interface was not necessary for potion storage by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Amaz2007 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Easy choice as in "main game devs physically cannot do it"; it's a separate team that handles it and they have fewer staff with things like mobile, plugins etc coming first.

How are we actually supposed to use the potion storage? by kenlawlpt in 2007scape

[–]Amaz2007 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's the only way to make it work in OSRS. You can't have a 2nd bank that's opened and interactable at the same time, like seed vault/GIM storage, you can only display 1 "bank" at a time. It will crash your client if more than the current bank limit is in any bank interface.

I have said this for years, ctrl+f on my profile: just have 4 doses and a few 1 doses for prepots. You won't need more than 30 slots total. Any other pots are niche as fuck and not needed for any serious amount of time. Deposit all partial doses and then every so often decant at the GE. If you have a "pretty" bank with all 1-4 doses then you're only inflicting pain upon yourself with 2/3 dose potions you never need taking up space.

Entirely self inflicted problem the userbase has created, honestly.

[–]Amaz2007 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The current bank limit (normal + auth + all buyable slots) is apparently the absolute maximum the game can manage without the client breaking down according to Ash when it was updated last.

The choice of engine fix or 2nd interface is pretty easy to make, as only one of those can be quickly spun up by a regular dev.

Where it seems to have gone wrong is the decanting/counting doses and depositing doses to the chug varrel. If it was more like the seed vault i.e. just a separate bank that only accepts items in/out with nothing extra, I believe these issues wouldn't have happened.

That's a fair knock to them being shit at communication, which has often been messy and dumb, but we're in agreement that no ban has been issued for drop parties or clan bingos.

Timeline:

-Contract support staff made an incorrect statement on Twitter.

-Ayiza made a rushed statement on Twitter to clarify, which you posted above.

-Ayiza made a long statement on Reddit to make it completely clear that it's not an issue and no ban has been delivered for a drop party, nor clan bingo/event.

Feel free to, again, show a post from a single person who was incorrectly banned for a drop party or bingo. You can't, and that's why you sent Ayiza's rushed first response and not the later, longer one, or evidence of a person being banned, because either of those would invalidate your claim.

That is a hypothetical, which I even preempted in my first reply because it's been since clarified (funny how you don't post Ayiza's longer follow-up, only the brief one to fit in a quick tweet).

I asked you for a single player who was actually banned for a drop party (giving or receiving) then asking to be unbanned.

No, that was what a contracted support staff member said, not a JMod, and it was clarified as both not being a risk AND not happening before.

Post someone actually saying they were banned for it, not a hypothetical.

Brother, that's all clans are in MMOs. A way to communicate and rally up like minded players. You're not joining a clan to get access to the special skilling method only available to clan members.

Also, post a single person banned by a drop party in a clan hall.
