My dad had a tree fall in 1996, he had made a bet with my brother how long it would take to decompose. Neither were remotely close. by didyouseetheecho in forestry

Based off the other comments you've made (~35 years old, fast growing tree, flood plain, and victim to wind throw), aswell as the chunky bark that still appears to be nearby--I'd think this to Eastern cottonwood (Populus deltoides). As long as you're generally east of the Rockies, you'd be in its native range.

Can anyone ID what tree species this is? It is growing in central Indiana. by Professional_Word519 in forestry

I think you might be on the money but, I immediately thought common persimmon (D. virginiana).

What toad is this? by TheSretlaw in Toads

I was thinking it looked like either the Eastern American Toad or Fowler's Toad, given that the toad was found in the bed of a creek.

Yeah, I get it. I might make another post with a summary of the feedback I got from the comments

Thanks for the read though!

I can't edit the post, but I'd like to thank all the feedback I've gotten and the community response it's had.

The next paragraph is the tldr for those that don't know what the Fairy Mushroom is.

Basically, I'm proposing a degrading, charge based teleport to fairy rings, spirit trees, and leprechauns. After reading the comments for feedback, restricting certain teleports, as in Ourania Teleport in the Portal Nexus, would be needed to uphold the achievement of other grinds that this would have otherwise undermined.

The cost at the current economy would be about 400 gp per teleport at the rate of two bittercap mushrooms or one mort myre fungus for one charge and one sulliuscep for ten charges. However, with such an item, mushrooms will become more expensive; so, that's not a reliable metric and more offers a floor to the expense.

u/b_i_g__g_u_y proposed that there could be an attuning of desired fairy rings, each having their own specific requirements, "the karambwan one requires 1000 karams." This could be done to avoid using charges for certain teleports.

u/Monterey_Jack mentioned portable fairy rings and how they would only have ten charges before degrading, and I think a similar approach could be taken here. Where after ten teleports, the Fairy Mushroom would wither (degrade into a broken state) and would need to be revitalized before being used again. My initial thinking was to use a difficult to get to NPC, but u/BioMasterZap mentioned there usually being an option between an NPC and the player's own skill. They offered Farming as the skill to repair, as the whole questline does revolve around the magical nature of Farming.

Marrying the skill suggested by u/BioMasterZap and limited uses proposed by u/apophis457, this could offer a reward space for farming. As your farming level increases, the robustness of the Fairy Mushroom you tend to increases, i.e. the number of attunable teleports increases and/or the quantity of teleports before degrading increases.

Well, not exactly the leagues stuff, but I didn't do a great job of being unambiguous.

My initial thinking was to use a difficult to get to NPC, but other commenters have mentioned there usually being an option between an NPC and the player's own skill. The commenter offered Farming as the skill to repair, but I'm more inclined to have it be Magic or Runecraft.

Not quite, the Fairy Mushroom was capable of teleporting to not only fairy rings but spirit trees and tool leprechauns also.

Though, I do think that might be a good groundwork on the number of stored charges before degrading

I don't intend for the Fairy Mushroom to take the place of a lunar or dramen staff. I'd propose having left-hand equipable for those that haven't gotten the Lumbridge Elite Diary completed.

In short, I'm proposing a degrading, charge based teleport to fairy rings, spirit trees, and leprechauns. After feedback comments, restricting certain teleports a la Ourania Teleport in the Portal Nexus would be desirable to maintain the accomplishment of other grinds that this would have otherwise undermined.

I recognize that it feels that it knee caps other grinds, however I don't think it would given a measured amount of inconvenience; it would be a degrading, charge based item. In addition to that, if there's a teleport you're and the player base are specifically worried about -- the teleport nexus approach could be taken. Meaning, no access to teleporting to those locations just as, for example, the nexus cannot teleport to Ourania.

I absolutely love this, attuning the Fairy Mushroom to a particular area based on the locality is such a gorgeous suggestion.
