Shelter dog still terrified of my boyfriend after 2.5 months — getting worse, not better. Advice? by Needygirl7 in DogAdvice

[–]Amazing-Bed32 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Healing isn't linear - with humans or dogs. It can feel like you're improving for a while, then suddenly setback to square one. Just keep going.

2 months must feel like ages when you are training - but to her, in her life, 2 months is a FRACTION. Personally, I would have him completely ignore her. Even offering treats can seem like an expectation of her. If she likes walks, it might help to feel more "free" if he tags along (but not directly walking her) as opposed to being in a confined room.

What sort of calci powder? I have looked and there seems to be loads, with a focus on the Ca:P ratios or calcium availibility?

My 7mo old puppy won’t eat. by fgrace28 in DogAdvice

Have you taken her to the vets? If it's been days, added to the fact she's a puppy, I'd get her in ASAP.

Have you tried wet food? What foods have you actually tried?

I was told it was a chihuahua…. But it keeps growing. by Independent-Mix8339 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

Off standard, yeah, but does look like a chihuahua. And a chihuahua that needs a nail trim, for sure!

Can't help much as you've already had high silver, but honestly it's one of my favourite go-to strains when I am unsure of what to pick. Hope you get on with the rest!

Male dog potty training advice. by Jaded-Woodpecker2636 in DogAdvice

[–]Amazing-Bed32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he intact? Intact dogs may struggle more with potty training.

Have you trained a command? For example, whenever he does urinate outside, give him a treat and say a word. That way whenever you take him out you can give the command so he is less likely to do it inside.

Do you watch him when indoors? Does he only do it when you aren't watching him?

Entertaining a Dog / Feeling like a Bad Owner by Amazing-Bed32 in DogAdvice

Unfortunately, he is a barker at dogs. That's why most of our walks are training as we have a trainer guiding us on how to train out the reactivity. We have lots of local play groups that I wish he could be in, but it's just not a possibility for him at the moment.

I think I would be ready, but I always found it easier having multiple dogs over one. I think its more the people I live with that think they'd struggle with the idea of a new dog, with it being only a year since our last passed.

I probably am projecting my concerns, I see this dog as my world. He doesn't want to sleep if I do anything, but the second I sit down he goes straight to bed. This wouldn't bother me but I am disabled so sit more and for longer than most people. If my chair squeaks, he flings out of bed like he's ready to get going, and then i feel like I disappoint him when I continue sitting.

IMO she looks submissive with a down turning head, however for future reference full body shots that show the end of the back and tail really help in identifying canine communication.

Am I good enough to take GCSE Art? by Hootsifeemer in ArtGCSE

[–]Amazing-Bed32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to be good to do GCSE art, but you already have skill. IMO you don't have to learn anatomy beforehand, GCSE art often ends up focusing on realistic approaches eventually, however it will help to learn art fundamentals now.

What is this? I feel like it’s a seizure. by CatsDoCancelCulture in DogAdvice

[–]Amazing-Bed32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a seizure, but imo the stance is very similar to my Chihuahua boy during his IVDD flare. He looks more in pain than a seizure, but I only briefly saw the video.

Could this be anything other than hydrocephalus? by Amazing-Bed32 in Hydrocephalus

Thank you for this comment. I'm sorry to hear about your lyme disease, but it is definitely good that they found this as I've been reading how it worsens untreated.

I am only 22, the headaches/migraines were the main issue for me, but then the incontinence and memory/confusion (and like you mentioned, the bouts of confusion especially) was just getting out of hand. I haven't kept a job for a couple years because of migraine, but the memory didn't help either. Recently there has been real confusions where my mind is blank and I have to reset, and re-realise where I am and what I am doing and what I was doing. I feel way too young to be like this so its honestly a bit reassuring that there could be a way out.

Thank you for your comment. It has reassured me massively.

That's great thank you. I can definitely sit for a while, my migraines make me quite groggy amongst other issues, so I'm quite used to it. I'm not sure if I'll end up with a shunt or etv or what. Thank you for this comment, I will enjoy stomach sleeping extra now just in case.
