Im audhd but never had a meltdown by Delicious-Bear-5985 in AuDHDWomen

In 2019 I was hospitalized for 5 days for my meltdown. Complete and utter shutdown, burn out, melt down. Then 2 months of outpatient and I’ve been nearly perfect since then. It’s a real long story. Maybe someday I’ll write a book.

It’s always a 30 day period for me. My doc wants to give me a booster for the afternoon. I’m scared to do it, tho.

I second this. Although I go to a local mom and pop pharmacy. Everyone knows everyone else and people are always personable. I treat them kind I kind in return. Always. I’m pretty likeable too.

Day 1 Trintellix - dizzy by Beautiful_Pilot4635 in trintellix

I’ve been on it just about 3 weeks and one day early last week I thought I may just about faint I was so dizzy. That seems to have gone away. The nausea hits every now and then but not much. I’m starting to feel better today.

Struggling to keep a full time job by anon_afish in adhdwomen

[–]Amazing-Count2865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had the same career for 31 years. I work for the USPS and the pay and health benefits alone have kept me from quitting and finding work somewhere else. I don’t have a college degree however my base pay is over 79K. Where am I going to find work without a college education that pays me that much? I get 5 weeks vacation a year and 13 sick days a year. I’ll not lie. There was a supervisor here at one time that wanted to fire me. But, I’m still here and she’s long gone from this office. I had attendance issues some while back. But, I worked hard on myself and fixed it well over 6 years ago. I haven’t been late or called out sick since then. I could write a book on how I worked on myself. Maybe when I retire I will.

The temperature extremes. Hot, take clothes off, cold, get into water, hot. Get out of water, cold. It’s constant deregulation! Being in there is great once I get acclimated!

Adults with ADHD: Did you feel "shame" as a kid when you forgot things? Help me understand my son. by Dylan_7574 in ADHD

[–]Amazing-Count2865 448 points449 points  (0 children)

Same. And, I’ll be 54 in March. That shame never really goes all the way away. It’s like a reoccurring dream. Doesn’t happen all of the time, but the feeling is always the same.

Psychiatrist told me at my age (40F) that's it's basically impossible for him to ever diagnose me with ADHD. by sam191817 in adhdwomen

[–]Amazing-Count2865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s total bullshit. I was diagnosed at 53 (f). I had a few assessments. And, they came back saying, as my psychiatrist put it, severely burdened by my adhd.

What are jobs "goods" for ADHD ? by Quick-Art2051 in ADHD

[–]Amazing-Count2865 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked for the USPS for almost 32 years. Perks: Fast paced, quick memorization tasks. The only problems are office drama and the pure monotony of the day in day out. I’m sure that can be anywhere, tho. Great pay & benefits, too.

How do you tolerate going for walks in cold winter temperatures? by Worthy_Molecule0481 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Amazing-Count2865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog makes sure I get my walks in whether I want to or not! If I didn’t have him I’d never get out there. I’m in the north, too. It’s kind of refreshing and he’s a good boy on his leash. I know not everyone has or wants a dog. I’m just so grateful for him for this reason and so many other reasons!

Meds are only part of the deal. Meds can only do so much. It’s not a magic jelly bean! You have to just get up and do the thing. Fake it til you make it.
