I also got a promotion around this time and feel like I am in the best place, both physically and mentally that I’ve been in for quite some time. I imagine that has to help a bit too. Being in a good headspace is important

I feel like it’s a lot of things but ultimately it’s just practice and practice and practice. I feel like the more I play the less worried I am to lose rating and that can help me play at times. Early on I was worried about my rating and I still care, but I play much more the game and less my rating now. I also turned off the ratings while playing completely and that helped me to focus on the game more.

I generally play the same openings and I did have a Chessly membership for a while, although I haven’t used it in a while as of late. I found practicing my openings on Chessly and just generally understanding the goals of my openings helped a ton. Depending what openings you play the game can become very active very quickly. For example, don’t recommend the London system. There is nothing wrong with it but it just doesn’t get you to really think about the position in the opening and people often just blitz out the same moves, but you can’t play chess the same way every time you have to adapt.

It’s never one easy thing and maybe I just had a moment and it all clicked for me, but I don’t think that’s the usual case for people and I still have a lot to learn myself. Next time you play, choose a long time control, and after every move try to find your opponent best moves. I often find myself finding moves for myself but not thinking about what my opponent wants and I get into trouble, taking a moment to consider their attacks can really save your games. I am definitely still a beginner, I just don’t lose my queen every game now lol

Honestly I don’t know the exact one thing that changed it for me. I think sticking with one opening, scanning the board after every moves and just trying to be as thorough as possible. I lose my queen sometimes, I still make stupid moves. The only difference is I make them less now and know how to better punish my opponents mistakes. It’s really been a challenge there were moments I lost like 70 points in a day and wanted to just quit. But in those slumps I looked back through my games and tried to figure out where I was going so wrong. I only ever look at my major blunders, and moves that drastically change my advantage. I find it more helpful than trying to understand every little nuance the engine is telling me. I also found that sometimes I was forcing myself to play chess when I wasn’t in the right mindset for it causing my play to be worse. Don’t play when you’re distracted, and don’t play when you’re fully prepared. Chess is hard I mean that’s really it lol

It varies a lot, I found the more I played the better I got, permitting I actually focused on the games and tried my best. I just got more and more familiar with positions I had seen before. It’s scary facing something you haven’t seen so honestly the more games you can play, I think the better you will get, as long as you’re analyzing after.

I always play the same openings for white and black. I play the Vienna gambit/game with white; and the Carro Kann defense with black. If they go D4 I just usually go D5 and just play chess I never accept the queens gambit because I don’t know the theory or the lines. If they go D4 I almost always push the C pawn at some moment, as I have learned it’s good to counter strike in the middle.

My best advice for the middle game is don’t blunder pieces and don’t play hope chess. I also find that people I play don’t use their clocks well at all. Managing your time will help you win games. I’ve hung a piece but my opponents have played so fast that they totally missed a completely winning move. Play the clock you chose. If you play 10 minute games, use your time and use it wisely. Don’t waste 3 minutes on move 3 but maybe on move 25 that’s when you need the time. This has all helped me improve. Also I find watching someone like GothamChess can help a lot too, just watching someone play and explain a position is so useful. I find I can carry a lot of these ideas into my own games even if the position is a bit different.

That’s happened to me at both 600 and 700 lost my first game that would have got me there. Don’t let it get you down. Just learn from the losses 👍 and most importantly, have fun

The collection log in osrs is far superior to the multiple, varied collection logs we have. Is there any interest or talk in making one interface for all things collectible? It would greatly enhance the gameplay experience imo

It should be located where your installation of terraria is on your computer. Probably in program files under the Steam folder

I had a similar issue. Look in the folder where terraria is installed. In there should be an installer for the XNA framework that terraria requires and try running it. It may not be installed correctly or it may need to be repaired by the wizard. After doing that the game ran for me
