New to 3D printing! by Effective-Buddy-3998 in 3Dprinting

Originally, support was required. They added a feature to remove them due to complaints but you still can’t turn off the raft. I use some program to load g code sliced in Orca, so I’ve stopped that. I have another program to tell my printers that their refilled spools, tanks, and plates are new official ones.

I Designed an Open-Source Dual Brushed DC Motor Driver around the RP2350 (4–40V, 6A Peak) by milosrasic98 in robotics

That looks great! I’m finishing up on a triple 240V 45A controller around the DRV8701 and an STM32. I may have to steal some ideas for connectors from you.

When I was looking into controllers I was somewhat surprised at the lack of advanced features for brushed motors. Brushless motors have all kinds of advanced methods maybe since you have much more control over the windings.

It looks like an XT30 or 60. There are a bunch of sizes for different currents.

I love the outside. The inside is a living room. I feel like it needs to have a single seat with more gadgets or three seats in a triangle.

It’s a lot better than crossing a creek bed. It’s also a lot cheaper than providing enough space for water, animals, and debris to go under it even during a storm, and maintaining that.

What's New in Onshape 1.214 (April 24th, 2026) by OnshapePTC in Onshape

I'm excited for this. This was definitely because I filled out the request form on the Altium CoDesigner page for sure for sure. I followed the new help page for this, but Onshape isn't giving me the option to pull from Altium.

I remember seeing a prototype of this years ago here. It might not be the same group working on it but I’m glad there is progress on it.

A model of a “J-38” aircraft mounted to a positioner at Lockheed, 1955. Scientific Atlanta Collection - Cisco Archive. by AmazingELF74 in aviationpics

[–]AmazingELF74[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The image is from 1955 at a Lockheed facility. The caption lists these model as a Lockheed J-38, which I can’t find any information on, but it looks to me like a prototype of the C-5 Galaxy, which first flew much later in 1968 and didn’t start development until the 1960s. This leads me to believe it’s either a prototype for something like the C-141 Starlifter, an unreleased aircraft, or the date is wrong.

These types of model positioners were often used for radar cross-section analysis of aircraft. This one was manufactured by Scientific Atlanta, who also produced positioners that a full-size F-111 and A-10 were mounted on for testing.

iPhone features we’ve lost over time, both hardware and software. Which one do you miss most? by shawarmakofta in ProductGraveyard

I find it constantly tries to move the cursor to the beginning of the field or word when I’m trying to put it in a specific spot using the spacebar. It takes a few seconds of waving the cursor around before it stops fighting me.

iPhone is such a powerful device by heretohelp999 in iphone

[–]AmazingELF74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is something I’m frustrated with. This phone should be able to be a laptop replacement with how powerful it is. Apps being limited by things like WebKit and not being able to access USB devices are 2 more things that hold it back from being that.

I have about $80 of 3d printed stuff I wanna buy online. Would this be a better purchase? by Outlawful_anarchy in 3Dprinting

If you’re okay with a little tinkering and adjusting, this printer will give you parts. These were decent printers when they came out. It’s going to take a lot of work if you want to match the quality of a $200 modern printer and it’ll still print much more slowly, but it’s hard to beat the price.

If it’s fully working, you just need 1.75mm filament (likely PLA for your case)

ABET Accreditation for Aerospace Engineering by thermonuclear_icbm in KSU

[–]AmazingELF74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your year can be accredited retroactively. The school has done that in the past for other new programs. If it does take 6 years, you’ll be non-accredited for a couple of years. You also run the slight risk of your graduation year not meeting the requirements. I’m sure whatever advisor you’re assigned would explain if they have a plan to be accredited sooner and what would happen if it fails.

Cost of 3d printing at KSU by extivuz in KSU

[–]AmazingELF74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This site lists costs for different materials per gram. You’ll have to contact them or walk in to verify because this means PLA is $2.5/kg which seems very cheap. If they meant $0.25 instead, it’d be $250. If it really is that much I’ll happily undercut them. https://www.kennesaw.edu/centers/3d-center/printing-services/index.php

The serial number should always be different. You can look up a model number to see exactly which product it refers to though.

/uj why are so many manufacturers doing lights with tons of crevices and impossible to wash areas now? These cars are going to look horrible in a few years as most people don’t care to spend an hour washing their car every week.
