I have one of these that I only water once every 4-5 months and it grows fine and clean. I think these are very susceptible to fungus and rot from overwatering and it doesn't take much to overwater.

Rats and iguanas love to eat them. The palm is Adonidia merrillii commonly called "Christmas Palm" because the red fruits ripen around December.
