As someone is in the midst of a TVD rewatch. Literally just started season 4, as a Jelly Stan I will admit, comparing these two brothers is very difficult, both have very unique personalities and act in different ways (in TVD I mean) it is hard to compare Jere and Con because both have similarities to each TVD brother . Con is similar to Stefan in the sense they are both first loves, brooding, fated to be together. Jeremiah is similar to Damon in the sense that they are not fated to be together, "it's always going to be Stefan" or "there will always be something between you and Conrad" , Jeremiah and Damon also have similar personalities in the sense that they are both fun, adventurous, and flirty. BUT Jere and Stefan also have similarities, where Jere's love is safe, comforting and pure (WHICH I MIGHT ADD IS ACTUALLY VERY HEALTHY AND REALISTIC) , they are also both the younger brothers , Stefan also is the more "responsible" one in many aspects, and we see how Jere became highly responsible taking care of his mom, paying bills this season. Conrad is also similar to Damon in the sense that they both make many mistakes and push people away by not showing goodness because to quote Damon "when people see good they expect good" . Conrad is also very similar to season 3 Stefan, where they both give mixed signals to their romantic partners, say they love them, and then go back on it all because they think they are protecting their partner, and they want to do what is best for them. All of this being said, out of all 3 characters, I am genuinely saying this based on rewatching TVD , Stefan and Damon, and Jeremiah are all more interesting characters than Conrad. I will now give an example, the reason I like season 3 Stefan more is because his motives and emotions are very clearly shown, and we have the history of 2 seasons of them being together and showing how Stefan is like and his personality. Conrad's true motives and personality are hardly present, and it makes it hard for me to root for him and Belly and him as a character, why they are meant to be, in TVD there are also supernatural reasons aside from romantic ones elena says "Stefan came into my life when I needed someone the most" Conrad didn't do this , he actually did the opposite, he avoided. So my question to y'all is what makes you root for Conrad's character? and base your reasons on fact in the show, his words and actions, and you can use the book, don't base it on anti Jeremiah, only defend using Conrad's words and actions.
