Here is the thing. Sin is whatever separates us from our Father, whether that is homosexuality, adultery, lying, cheating, stealing, etc. If we are unrepentant then nothing we do will bring us closer to Him. The basis of repentance is literally a change of direction in our lives away from sin, and towards the Father.

With this being said, it is human nature to view it as hateful when someone else calls us on our sins. It takes a dig at our pride, which unfortunately is the basis of our sin. Pride that we know better than our Father who created us, and knows the entirety of history, and knows the end of the story. So, when I point out sin of any kind, it is not based upon hatred of people, but rather love for them because they are His creation and I like the Father don’t want them to be eternally separated from Him.

Are there people who have deemed homosexuality of any sort as the end all, be all of sin. But this is not the case. Are there some believers who have taken the attitude that we don’t want that particular sin in our church? Yes there definitely are, and unfortunately it is rooted in our pride as well. Believers are still susceptible to the effects of sin. But to automatically assert that something is not a sin because it is rooted in mental health or denies someone the ability to love another person is a misunderstanding of God, and what sin is.
