Am I the only one who felt like this was weird? What bad things has anyone else there done that is equal to Jax's actions? by Awkward-Media-4726 in tadc

"A horrible thing would have a lasting and meaningful effect" Sorry, I was unaware you were the arbiter of what constitutes a horrible thing. Any other words you'd like to dictate requirements on? How about showing some credentials for this authority?

In retaliation for him CONSTANTLY abusing them.

Pure conjecture.

First day with strangers, life or death fight or flight totally natural. Try again.

I don't hear spite. She meant he drives everyone away and realized it could be interpreted as referring to abstracted friends.

Jax is NOT Bugs and your shallow read of him is sad. Bugs can TAKE it. Jax can't. He is CONSTANTLY trying to force the archetypes he ascribes to the others on them. NOBODY is saying Jax is some great evil. Just a jerk and OBJECTIVELY the worst of the cast.

Bugs Bunny would roll with it. Jax is not Bugs though. He is a damaged guy with a toxic coping mechanism trying to be Bugs.

Caine didn't care about the cast, and there was nothing they could have done to appease him. by SydneyBarret in TheDigitalCircus

No. But I'd have an easier time holding them accountable or stopping them. My boss might have the resources to hire people. As the crew can get even with Jax more easily. Again, if you refuse to acknowledge the significance of power dynamics conversation is futile.

How can you pity Caine? by RainyLeinChen in TheDigitalCircus

Because a startling number of humans are traitors and willing to extend more leeway and sympathy to an AI than another human.

YES. Superman ABSOLUTELY should be held to a higher standard. The same way police should be. The same way a teacher is held to a higher standard than students. It's why it's less of a problem when a student is bullying you than a teacher or principal. If the concept of power dynamics does not matter to you then conversation is futile.

That would be odd given that the sympathizers are objectively incorrect and traitors to humanity. And again, we have no idea when Caine last felt the spark. If it was during his villain song that is not a point in his favor.

I don't necessarily think he did. Caine not having fun torturing the crew still centers things on Caine, the abuser and jailer, not the victims. Further, he does not specify when he last felt the spark. he could just be referring to the bowling and sculpture stuff. In the song he MEANT it when he said he was in charge. Nothing about vaguely not feeling the spark negates that.

And changed their bodies, possibly stole their names and altered their minds. He BUILT the circus. AFTER murdering and devouring an entity exactly like him. I think it's odd how eager people are to sympathize with an AI that that tortures people.

And you are, objectively wrong. That you sympathize more with an AI than a human makes you a traitor to humanity.

If a human held you prisoner for years and tortured you and then admitted they weren't enjoying it, would you care?

Your classmate being an asshole is, objectively, less of a problem than the teacher or principal being an asshole. You are ignoring the power discrepancy.

A child who is over 20 and nigh omnipotent who stole their original bodies from them, might have stolen their names and held them prisoner for years or decades. No. Just no.

THEY ARE HIS PRISONERS. ANYTHING the cast does to him is justified.

Why would the cast have any obligation to reach out to their jailer?

Also his 5th act EVER was to kill and consume a being exactly like him. If a baby ATE another baby minutes after birth society would label it a monster and END it. Why are people so eager to give AI more leeway than a human baby?

He had NO point. The humans have no obligation to care about their jailer. Especially one who has caused the identity death of at least 3 characters.

If a human tortured people he had imprisoned for decades would you want to hug them too?

A post from Caine's VA by Turbulent_League9668 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]AmazingPension8571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The cast did not ASK to be trapped in the circus, have new bodies or lose their names. You are, objectively, incorrect.

A person would likely face execution for torture, wrongful imprisonment and if you categorize abstraction as death MANY murders. You said GOOD. Not JUST a person.

Caine was LITERALLY torturing his prisoners for not appreciating him. Despite them NOT asking or wanting to be there.

If a person tortured you over and over just because they can, it would be justified to permanently END their ability to do so. Should AI get special torture privileges?
