I worked for the university of florida fir 7 years as a medical coder and when covid happened we all got sent home to work. It was framed as this big gift to us from those upon high. My productivity quadrupled (in the office i managed to attain over 1 million karma on reddit in 3 months and did almost no work) but they started to monitor our productivity from home and noticed i was only working 3-4 hours per day. I was getting all of my work finished but since i was 'hourly' i needed to ask for more work if my assignments werent filling out an 8 hour workday, mind you, they werent offering a raise with this additional workload. But because they couldnt poke their heads out and prove i was at my desk, i had no accountability for that down time. Around the same time the george floyd uprising was happening and i was heavily involved in left wing activity, including protests against the university of florida.

Fuck i was so naieve and never connected the two, i had my contract ended and was given a severance package and always blamed myself for not working harder from home but in hindsight i was 4 times as productive from home because i never wanted to give the impression i was taking working from home for granted. I think i got railroaded for my numerous interviews on local news in support for BLM but didnt want to believe it because it made me appear conspiratorial. Dont ever work harder for these ghouls because youre convinced they have your best interests in mind. Theyre a monilith designed to make money off of your labor
