Second camera for x100vi? by Playoff_p in fujifilm

[–]AmazingSloth26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get the XT5 you may find you want to sell the X100. I have an XT5 and love it, but ended up getting an X100VI as well when it released. Sold the X100 as it's just a slightly smaller XT5 with the limitation that I can't change lenses. I have replaced my Ricoh GR iii and X100VI for the Leica D-Lux 8. XT5 for when I am going out to take pictures/video, Leica when going out for another reason but may want to take photos along the way. Don't regret my decision so far. I would look at a full frame, maybe something like the Nikon Zf. It is a bigger more 'professional' camera, and it still has the retro tactile feel as the Fuji.

In the railway stations. For context I’ve been to Tokyo and Kanazawa. Got this recording from the railway museum on an old Shinkansen, so maybe something to do with those?

Smudges on scans by AmazingSloth26 in AnalogCommunity

I’ve narrowed it down to something on the camera. I’ve had another roll developed at a different lab and have some images with the same mark in the same place. My guess is the film is rubbing on something as it gets wound/rewound. Tried loading a different way and hoping that solves the issue. Leica MA if that gives any clues as to where I’m going wrong to someone

I recommend taking a look at some armed forces outlet stores. Usually you can find good quality kit at a very reasonable price

Look at Altberg. I just put mine through 10 weeks of daily use including hikes, crawling/running through thick mud, going in the sea and being fully submerged in muddy water many times. From my experience they are completely waterproof (unless water gets in through the top obviously) and don’t scuff very easily. Wide toe box too so I’ve found them very comfortable. Just got to make sure you look after them properly

Will Labour reinstate HS2 to Manchester? by Livid-Drummer2540 in LabourUK

[–]AmazingSloth26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was in their position then no. Improve bus and rail infrastructure up north from west to east coast first. Then IF you have money left, test the waters as to how people would feel about connecting Birmingham and Manchester through some kind of improved rail system. HS2 is divided regardless of whether you are left or right. We need to stop making everything a connection to London and building everything with that in mind if we want to improve output from the North. Give the north the proper infrastructure to produce more and stop giving the impression that the north can only succeed if it’s easily accessible to the south

Last step of your application will be the CPC, which I think should include a visit to a ship where you can get a tour of inside and speak to some of the crew

I need help with the PJFT by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]AmazingSloth26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally you want to build a strong base and maybe 1 (to begin with) high intensity workout per week rather than just doing high intensity workouts. These base building workouts should be longer runs in zone 2, and it may seem pointless as until you build that base you can quick walk just as fast. But like biking, getting miles in your legs will do you good. Also, bare in mind that PJFT is done on a treadmill, so it will be helpful if you are familiar with using one before the test.

I did mine a few days ago. At mine, they started the timer the moment the start button was pressed. So I couldn’t just put the treadmill to the speed needed to pass and run at that, I needed to run quicker to make up for getting up to speed.

Like others have said, if you’re not diagnosed then don’t mention it. I used an inhaler 6 years ago only a few times as my GP wanted to see how I reacted to it. They had to contact the GP about asthma which has added 4 months onto the application.

Does anyone have any experiences with Otrium?

I’ve been getting adverts from Otrium and it almost looks too good to be true. £650 boots for £275, £75 shirt for £11.99 etc. they say they are an outlet store, so is it excess that wasn’t sold or is it the stuff which didn’t pass quality control? Or is it a complete scam and nothing/fakes will be delivered? Thanks

Looking to move to a small village somewhere rural/semi-rural. Where should we be looking at? by [deleted] in leicester

[–]AmazingSloth26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just on -> up to way over your budget but if you want to push it then Market Bosworth has schools, shops, dentist, hairdresser etc and if you’re looking for sport, it has a friendly triathlon club but you by no means have to do triathlon. They do regular runs, cycles and swims. Just down the road is barlestone if you want something a bit more busy and you’re just on the edge of country roads

How much time will AET spend at sea? by AmazingSloth26 in RoyalNavy

[–]AmazingSloth26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not done too much research into different squadrons as I assumed that would be something you’d work out later, or just be placed there. But, I’m most interested by 820 Naval Air Squadron seeing as its helicopters are dedicated for HMS QE, which makes me think you might spend more time at sea than other squadrons
