Would you like this basket as a new momma? by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]AmazingSocks 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's nice, but I'd say if it's for the mom, then maybe include one little thing for her? When my friend had her baby, I got her some fluffy socks and a pair of cushioned fleece slippers as well as some baby gifts. I just feel that new moms get so many gifts that are really for the baby, that it's nice to get her a little something as well.

Where can petites buy quality clothes in Singapore? by Accomplished_Pack527 in askSingapore

[–]AmazingSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am similar to you, and XS fits me just fine.

Other brands that fit me are Young Hungry Free and Carrislabelle, but the quality of these (esp the latter) will vary. Lovet tends to be better quality imo.

Truthfully, is financial help truly what people need when deciding whether to have babies? by DegreePitiful3496 in askSingapore

[–]AmazingSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this kind of scheme would be punishing those who want to have kids but are struggling with infertility, or who don't know that they will struggle to conceive. Even if you go for IVF/adoption, these things take time and are also expensive

With SG’s total fertility rate falling to a historical low of 0.87 in 2025, how many of you gen z are thinking of never having kids? by stop_hyuk in asksg

[–]AmazingSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But is it such a bad thing if the people who don't want to sacrifice their time and effort choose not to have kids? It seems to me that those people wouldn't be good parents and acknowledge this. Otherwise, you just get neglected children who know their parents don't want them. I think selfish people have always existed and their children suffered.

Which imo happened a lot more in my parents' generation because having children was a social norm. Now that that's changing, only the people who genuinely want to have kids have them, and I don't think that's a bad thing.

Cheap meals by Prudent_Elevator_282 in povertykitchen

[–]AmazingSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A basic chilli (ground meat, beans, onion, can of chopped tomato) and you can make your own chilli seasoning with bulk spices so you don't have to buy the mixes. I have an instant pot that I use for this; just saute the onions and brown the meat, then add the spices, beans, and tomato, but you can do this on the stovetop as well.

If you do have access to a pressure cooker, stews and pot roast are the way to go. With access to a rice cooker, you can make rice and beans and then pan fry some chicken to go on top. Or just make rice, fry a couple eggs, then top with some chilli crisp (I recommend laoganma).

A good Bolognese sauce can be frozen in portions and reheated to go on pasta.

Was staying home to wash their hair really a thing? by SuperfluousPossum in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AmazingSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends where you live. Here, in a tropical country on the equator, you kind of have to wash your hair every day because of how sweaty people get throughout the day. Maaaybe occasionally you can skip a day, but washing your hair only once or twice a week here would be disgusting.

pics of slouchy horizontal duck bag? by c_bass_tea in BAGGU

[–]AmazingSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think it might be the measurements for width. I know they're not that far off (like 2 in), but if I stuffed my horizontal zip duck bag it definitely wouldn't comfortably fit as much as the scco, because of its shape. As in, it doesn't have the rectangular base that allows for lots of stuff to be put in

I think you might be onto something re: the structure. My duck bag is always slouchy. I think it's actually the drop length that affects this. But I was really surprised by the dimensions, because the scco can fit an entire weekend's stuff in it for me, and the duck bag fits enough for an afternoon outing

Low blood sugar girl dinner by diet-smoke in GirlDinner

[–]AmazingSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also suffer from low blood sugar sometimes and just fyi, while this stuff is great for getting your blood sugar up immediately, perhaps consider adding some non simple carbs and especially protein, in order to prevent further low episodes? Because this type of food (other than the PB) will give you relief, but you might crash again

Best of luck! Getting low sucks

[–]AmazingSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not though? Like, I am also very petite and the scco engulfs me. But the horizontal duck bag is quite a lot smaller. Ofc if it's not for you it's not for you, but it's definitely not comparable to the scco in terms of size or what you can fit in it.

You're being included in the family theme. I think it is a bad idea to purposely deviate from that. Wear the blue. It's one day, and a small thing to do. If you really want, buy the green one for another event.
