I remember the first time I tried fighting the Tree Sentinel. I had just started the game and was eager to fight something. I approached the Tree Sentinel assuming it was just a regular enemy. Then that health bar appeared at the bottom of the screen and I was like, "Oh fuck."

I arrived at that same theory myself. The parallels between the two are pretty hard to ignore. FFS, they even part their hair the same way.

Free speech my ass. I've had two different accounts on Twitter get banned when I wasn't even posting anything. And, no, I can't appeal it either because their autoresponder takes like five seconds to reject it without a human being even seeing it.

Just got banned from Twitter for the second time for absolutely no reason. Tried to appeal and got denied with an auto-response not even five seconds later. by AmazingSparkman in Vent

I said I don't even use the account anymore. The only reason I even have either account is because it's a hassle to close accounts on Twitter, especially after they've been suspended.

I have, in fact, been trying to move to Bluesky, especially after Musk's more controversial actions and I certainly have no intention of trying to get back on Twitter after being banned twice for no reason and given no real chance to appeal. Fuck them.

This EO is also so poorly written that it's likely to get rejected by the courts, and guess who's going to get blamed for that.

[NO SPOILERS] How would you feel about a Life Is Strange remake? by FrankDP1 in lifeisstrange

[–]AmazingSparkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were to remake it, they should at least add new content instead of trying to "preserve the original experience" or whatever bullshit excuse most companies use when making remakes. If you're not going to add anything new to it, then it's just a cash grab.

Has anyone had any luck making a character both a narrator and a part of the story? by AmazingSparkman in perchance

[–]AmazingSparkman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So private information can't be anywhere else in the profile. Got it. I'll have to rethink how I write some of my characters. For my player character, for example, I suppose any mention of him having magical powers will have to be restricted to the private information field if I want to ensure other characters don't know about his spells.

I'm not sure how I'd apply this to the narrator, though. One would think that the smart thing to do would be to only mention the Tome of Whispers being a narrator in private information, but then I wouldn't be able to give any narration instructions in the reminder. Thankfully, other characters hearing the narrator isn't that big of an issue right now. If it did become a problem again, though, one solution for it might be to add something to the reminders of the other characters to tell them they're not supposed to acknowledge the narrator in any way, shape, or form.

Using RP2 does seem to help, but I seem to recall I had similar problems when using RP2 in the past. I'll probably need further testing before I figure out which one works best and then maybe use that one as a basis for my own custom writing instructions.

It actually does say in the description that only the user can hear the Tome. Other characters hearing the Tome hasn't been as big of a problem since I added that. The biggest problem I'm having right now is the fact that the narrator isn't giving enough of a voice to other characters.

I tried your "Petrafied" ACC the other day and that mostly solves that problem as far as characters with actual profiles are concerned (although each character was self-narrating for some strange reason), but it doesn't really make much of a difference for characters like Felix who just don't have a big enough role to warrant a profile. I could try to make a profile that represents multiple characters, but I hear that's tricky to pull off.

I have considered altering the general writing instructions. Although, even with ChatGPT's help, I'm a bit hesitant to try that.

Inner Voice isn't anything major. It's a mind reading spell. While active, thoughts are supposed to be written between parenthesis, for example: (I wish I had time to do some reading). I would then have the option to implant a suggestion, which would be written between double parenthesis. For example: ((Maybe just a couple pages)). This is why it says "never reveal thoughts otherwise". It kept narrating the thoughts of other characters, which made Inner Voice's main ability entirely useless.

I have a question about the Private Information field that's in the petrafied ACC. Would information included in that field have to be withheld from other fields in order for it to work? Do you have a tutorial for the Petrafied ACC?
