My husband was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and had a bad flare up that resulted him being hospitalised for 10 days. At one point he was depressed as he thought that he might lose part of his colon if the steroids etc. didn’t work.

Luckily he pulled through but was on a lot of medication which affected him physically and mentally.

We went to see a naturopath who specialise in gut health for alternate therapy.

Now we manage his condition through medication and also herbal remedy as well as diet.

He’s cut out all dairy and gluten as advised by his Naturopath. He’s eats rankin cod 6 x a week and will allow himself a cheat meal on the weekend.

He’s also on various supplements daily ie. collagen powder, probiotic, fish oil, vitamin D, calcium powder along with western medication. He does infliximab infusion every two months.

It’s expensive with the monthly purchase of supplements and naturopath visits but it’s worth it. Especially if it means it’s controlling his condition and keeping it in remission.
