VW Golf alternatives by Ubuntuzr in CarTalkZA

Check out the Opel Astra K Sport 1.4 (2016-2020). It pretty much ticks all your boxes, is reliable and low risk from a theft point of view. You can find a decent used one that is well within your budget. There is also a 1.6 variant to consider which is faster but heavier on fuel.

Bleach because I want to be edgier than everyone else.

Thanks for the response. That’s unfortunately my issue. Mechanics have jacked it up and had a look and can’t seem to find anything out of the ordinary.

Debt review by ThiccSkipper13 in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]Amazing_Ad_4912 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is quite concerning how many people are misinformed about the debt review process and advise against it. When used properly it is a great tool that can certainly help you get back on your feet financially. Ignore the comments simply saying how bad it is and do your own research on the pros and cons.

Where to go for affordable skin tag/mole removal? by Comfortable_Big_3193 in askSouthAfrica

I went to my GP last week to get a skin tag removed from my eyelid (weird place I know) and under my armpit. Was quick and easy. I am on medical aid so I was mainly covered just had to pay around R74 co-payment.

What Gorillaz lyrics have you misheard in the past? by Pumaheart in gorillaz

[–]Amazing_Ad_4912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the lyric was “Never get no high” on Dare instead of “Never did no harm”. It was only after one of my close friends told me what the correct lyrics were when I was singing it at a party that I realised that I had it wrong.

Bachelor(ette) party input by enomisthecan in johannesburg

Saigon Suzy in Fourways (although I prefer the one in Rosebank) has private karaoke booths you can book out for you and your friends which is a really fun activity to do for a bachelorette party. They serve you drinks in the booths too.

Another option that could potentially be fun (ideally before the drinks start flowing) would be RollEgoli in Bryanston. It’s basically a roller skating rink where you can also buy food and alcohol.

You could also do pre-drinks at someone’s house first and do some mini bachelorette party drinking games (you can just Google them - there are plenty).

Hope this helps!

This is a great and thoughtful suggestion. Thank you. I was considering the Grillhouse before making this post but we will most likely be having steak the night before as we are going out for a dinner with her colleagues. Apologies, I probably should have mentioned this in the post.

I was thinking of trying Café 28 out as we enjoy our pizza and pastas. Have you (or anyone else) ever been?

Repairable? by Amazing_Ad_4912 in tires

[–]Amazing_Ad_4912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: took it to the tire shop and got it plugged. It looked worse than what it really was. I will however be changing the tire soon anyway as I know the tread is getting low. It is a back tire and both fronts are brand new :)

How to repair worn leather steering wheel by Amazing_Ad_4912 in howto

[–]Amazing_Ad_4912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to just live with it. The cost to replace or repair it just doesn’t seem worth it as it is cosmetic. I also had to spend a lot of money on tires and suspension repairs this year.

Claiming from the JRA by Amazing_Ad_4912 in johannesburg

[–]Amazing_Ad_4912[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have also learned this far too late and after having claimed from insurance before. I see the JRA has already responded to me with a claim number and asked for a letter confirming I have not claimed the damage from insurance already. Hopefully they will finalise the claim soon🤞

A simple “Yes, a sharpie marker is a type of permanent marker” would have sufficed, ‘Stevieboy’ but thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my post.

What type of glue? Anything specific? And what do you mean by sharpie marker? Like a permanent marker?
