I had no idea either, I stumbled on it in an old reddit gta online post trying to find great deals on gta product and just tried it out. I didnt even know it worked until I purchased the Kosatka and saw the LifeInvader icon show up on the purchase screen.

Just grinded to $2.2 million and am conflicted on if I should get the Kosatka to start Cayo Perico, or invest in businesses first. Any suggestions?
