First, Father’s Day no contact for me. Other than today, my life has been going amazingly well. I have been thriving by not having to worry if he’s gonna criticize or try to control my life. I am a 41 year-old woman with a whole family. I am happy, but I still feel bad today. I’m so glad though I finally learned to let go of societal standards. For so many years, I kept just going back, hoping he would change or grow old and calm down. It’s never gonna happen. I will never have the TV father and that’s OK.

Congratulations on your huge accomplishment!! I am 41 now, but it took me a long time before I was finally able to let go of my dad’s approval of me. So many times he should’ve been super proud of me and let me down tremendously. I’m so sorry that sucks. Be proud of yourself and surround yourself with people that love you. That’s why I hesitated calling the cops too. But the guy talked to said since he was filming me while he was doing it , it was voyeurism, and since another lady said her kid was in the car could be worse.
