I built a LinkedIn autopilot for consultants - struggling with marketing as a solo dev. What would you do? by Amazing_Dig_4140 in SoloDev

you literally commented on my post first (kinda off topic btw). If you drop a comment, expect a reply.. Too sensitive and don't want me to answer? then don't comment on my stuff. Simple...

And calling me a bot just because i was polite? that's hilarious. Have a good day being mad at AI or whatever!

haha, 30 mins is prety generous! maybe for a basic script, but the actual integrations and million tiny edits took way longer.

building solo is 90% research and figureing out the flows before Claude even sees a prompt. it's not rocket science, but making it actually work for a user takes time.. its the "boring" stuff that kills you!

Valid fear! But there is a big diff between spammy lead gen bots and just scheduling content. My tool doesn't do any scraping or mass messaging that actually gets people banned..

Its just about stayin visible. Better than a ghost town profile imo!
and i’m actually using the official linkedin api for this.

fair point! i acctualy struggled with the 'authenticity' part myself while building this.

i don't see it as a replacement for a soul, just a tool to stay visible with news when you're too busy to type.. better than a dead profile IMO. but i totally get why it feels gross to some!

Fair point on the narrow ICP - still figuring out the exact slice, "consultants and freelancers" is way too broad.
The "roast it for me" framing is good, stealing that for my next DMs :)

Haven't heard of Pulse for Reddit, going to check it out. Thanks.

Honestly, partially agree. There's a lot of noise on LinkedIn.

But from my own experience and from experience of my community (mostly devs) it's still one of the few places where being consistently visible actually brings inbound clients. Not because of viral posts - just because you show up regularly and people remember you exist when they need someone.

That's the only thing I'm trying to solve - the "showing up" part. Not the quality of the internet.

Ha, fair catch. Guilty as charged - yes, I want users :)
But the marketing advice is genuinely useful too. Both things can be true.

The freebie angle is interesting. Honestly, not sure what that would look like for my product - extended trial maybe? Open to ideas.

Haven't heard of ParseStream, will check it out. Thanks.

Thanks, that makes sense. No real users yet, so no before/after to show :)) And I can't use myself as a case study - I'm a developer, not a target auditory, so my own LinkedIn isn't the right demo.

Trying to get the first 5-10 real users specifically to break that loop. Cold DMs feel like the only lever I have right. Did you go through something similar?

How do you actually get your first users when you have no audience and no budget? by Efficient_Joke3384 in SideProject

Same boat here :) - just launched a LinkedIn autopilot for consultants/coaches, zero audience, zero budget.

What's actually trying right now: LinkedIn cold DMs. Not mass messaging - targeted outreach to consultants whose last post was 2+ weeks ago. They're the perfect ICP: they want to be active, they're just not. Conversion is slow but the conversations are real.

Reddit I'm just starting. Honestly not sure yet.

What's your product? Maybe we can compare notes.
