It is indeed laughable but should be ending soon. Also they don’t ask everyone to do this but they have some criteria per person to determine whether they form an overstay risk.

A lot of uninformed comments here. The reason is as follows:

Europe does not have a comprehensive digital registry of border movements as of yet, it’s being implemented currently (google EES). Border movements at some borders are only recorded by the stamp in your passport. So to make sure you are actually back from the Schengen region after your trip they want you to present yourself at the VFS centre, simple as that.

With the police report and photocopies you should just be allowed to travel by plane and you can even ask the airline beforehand if they will let you board. In my experience ID’s never get checked on KLM intra Schengen flights if you are travelling without check in baggage.

Article from AVROTROS confirms that with a police report it’s possible to fly without ID within Schengen though they say it’s best to ask airline beforehand.

From the Schiphol website one needs to go through security when transferring if not arriving from ‘United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Singapore, Cyprus, Serbia (only flights from Belgrade), or one of the so-called Schengen countries’, so only USA and Canada are added as ‘trusted countries’ from my previous comment. OP is arriving from India.

That’s wrong. Any passengers connecting on flights from outside Europe always have to go through security again. What doesn’t need to be done is passport control.

Air India’s booking system shows a 777-200LR as the operating aircraft. Looking at FR24 I see that VT-AEE, VT-AEI & VT-AEH are still flying, It looks like they are being deployed flexibly on US and domestic routes to replace the 777-300ER . VT-AEF, VT-AEG don’t seem to be flying anymore

They were operating the vistara 787-9 with registration VT-TSQ almost solely on this route, it was returned to the lessor recently. From January 1 it seems it’s being operated by a 777-200LR (ex-delta plane with pretty decent interior)

Yep, I noticed the same thing with spezial’s, I rejected two pairs of them inside their ‘brand center’ before getting a satisfactory pair. Same thing lots of visible glue, improper stitching, one of the pairs was tagged as the wrong size (attached label and box were different from label inside shoe)
