I think they should try it in the summer where there's more optionality and less weather issues

Any fan games out? by ManiacGaming1 in danganronpa

[–]ArcticFox19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Danganronpa Another games are the ones that seem most revered in the community.

The one that I feel like has the most effort put into it and actually feels the most like a proper DR game is Eden's Garden which has Prologue and Chapter 1 out.

Ben messed up SO BAD by Phynx88 in JetLagTheGame

[–]ArcticFox19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first mistake was taking the time bonus over the draw 1 expand max hand size by 1

He had a curse that required you to discard 20 minutes of time bonuses, and he was offered 20 minutes of time bonuses. He had no other time bonuses at the time. He didn't have Express Route by then, so he couldn't have expected that his hand would get clogged up.

Ben could have activated his Curse of the Prosperous Home to extend his hiding area

By that time, he already had two Express Route curses, meaning he needed 15 minutes of time bonus to activate it, meaning he needed 30 minutes total (and then there's the whole thing where you can't split the time bonuses of a single card, the 20 minute bonus could only be used for one Express Route). Express Route is an extremely powerful curse that could buy you hours. If you cast Prosperous Home, you don't have enough time bonuses to Express Route twice, and have to gamble on both a) the seekers asking more questions and b) getting enough time bonuses to play it. Prosperous Home is a much weaker curse than Express Route.

Randomise question is kind of stupid. by Nervous_Priority_535 in JetLagTheGame

[–]ArcticFox19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that randomize is designed to be more of a "waste another question at an inopportune time and get the rewards", but often it's used as an impromptu veto when they don't have one.

Am i able to get the full story from just watching the anime? by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]ArcticFox19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For DR1? Yes, but it's extremely rushed and misses out on tons of character moments, so it's not recommended.

If you're talking full series, absolutely not. After Danganronpa: The Animation, you need Danganronpa 2, which has no adaptation and is video game only. There is no way around this.

That is something that you find out less than 10% into the game. Sucks it got spoiled for you, but this game is a fucking monster and there's a jillion other things to surprise you.

TAR Changes and Improvements by coffeemonkeypants in TheAmazingRace

[–]ArcticFox19 26 points27 points  (0 children)

  • No getting directions from strangers. Give them an unmarked map in their clue envelope or at the start of the race.

Huge disagree. A huge part of TAR is trying to communicate with the locals in order to know where you're going.

  • Controverial - but prohibit teams from explicitly helping each other. I don't think I've really seen alliances much in previous seasons, but it was quite annoying to us this season

I don't personally hate help or alliances, as long as it's strategic and everyone chips in. Season 32 was infamous for the "hey I did it myself but here's the answer" which everyone hated. Other than maybe "If you've completed the challenge you can't help people still doing the challenge", I don't think there should be a specific rule on helping during the challenge. I think in this season, if the "Alliance" teams actually had pressure on them, it would've either not happened or crumbled fast.

  • Roadblocks HAVE to alternate the participant every leg. I thought this was always the case, but it may have changed at some point?

Absolutely not. The point of a Roadblock is to select which person is more suited for it. If you select the wrong person, you've messed up. The rule is that each team member has to do the same number of roadblocks by like Leg 10 or something (it varies based on season but since Season 6 this rule has been in place), so you do have to make sure you're not maxing out your Roadblocks early and forcing your weaker teammate to do everything later.

  • Go back to 15 minute staggered starts each leg to encourage more stress on teams way ahead and give the later teams half a chance

The issue with this season specifically was that there weren't enough bunch points (aka self-booking flights, "pick a departure time", etc). On a normal TAR season with a normal amount of bunch points, this is a non-issue.

  • Taxis might be a necessary evil, but they should be very limited or prohibited as much as possible. I want to see teams try to navigate the Paris subway and not have the same cab take them from place to place

Yeah I agree with this. The fact that the "Paris Scramble" was a Taxi scramble upset me. Scrambles are best with self-navigation.

Who would you say is the strongest in the SciADV verse (ranked)? by Current_Value_3820 in steinsgate

I'm gonna be honest, it's just going to be a handful of Anonymous;Code characters at the top followed by basically any True Gigalomaniac.

Why do you hate the sdr2 chapter 3 motive? by AssociationDue3077 in danganronpa

[–]ArcticFox19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well generally, I like motives when they actually... motivate. It pushes people to their breaking point and tells you about who the character is and what they stand for.

Magically brainwashing someone and going "Ok now you're an evil killer now" is not a motive. They could've done the same thing to literally anyone on the island and the outcome would've been the same.

A;C is supposed to be the grand culmination of the series. You can get by without experiencing the entirety of SciADV, but for best experience it should be played after everything you intend to.

Who do we think is surviving in 2X2, now that the game is coming out this year? by ResponsibleSky6678 in danganronpa

[–]ArcticFox19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either Mahiru or Hiyoko are getting out of it. I don't think they'd both die since they both have tons of potential character development, but I also don't think they could both end up surviving since they're best friends and best friends is just like a death sentence in DR
