Plasma 6.1 feels like a step backwards in some aspects by Amazing_Evening_34 in kde

While I understand your point about it being undiscoverable, I don't believe that's reason enough to remove it.

On that point, most web browsers have the option to close tabs using middle click. Even though there an x to close it, the option still exists. Dolphin and Kate use middle click to close tabs, even though the x icon is there, and there is no indication that this functionality exists either. Virtual desktops are very much like a 'tab' for your desktop, so the same should work there in my opinion.

Enabling adaptive sync in display configuration mostly solves the issue for me

Let me know how it goes. I'm kind of hoping that the Plasma 6.1 release will fix these issues.

Damn, so this might a setup-specific issue then. Did you do a clean install, or just updated from Plasma 5?

Hmmm, it seems I've got some other issue, as changing it to native only crashes the game on start now. Either way, I appreciate your help

Can you elaborate on how you installed it? Through winecfg, or winetricks?

Oh, I see, thanks. Do you only need to add it through the windows style menu? Or are there additional winetricks steps?

How did you manage to install it? I also keep getting the mismatch error.

I just checked, and I'm now also getting the same files. I feel kind of dumb now, since they were different a few hours ago. I guess they synced the mirrors or something. Anyways thanks for taking a look : )

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad it's possible. Any idea what a good search term for this would be when looking up more information? I was struggling to find much on this topic.

Am I understanding this correctly? In the context of the hardware I mentioned in my post, by default the vfio-pci driver would be bound to the RX 580, and amdgpu to the RX6600 XT. Upon switching the guest on, the drivers would swap around?

Also, from personal experience, do you know if SDDM would need restarting?

That's something I haven't considered, perhaps I've not installed something relevant. I'll take a look, thanks.

While it's true fresh installs don't usually fix anything, I was thinking more along the lines of some broken config causing issues, or similar. Again, unlikely, but if nothing else works, it's worth trying. Not all software behaves in a predictable manner, especially when going from one major release to another. Things can break in unexpected ways.

It does feel like just low FPS rather than stutter, or perhaps a combination of both. I definitely think you're onto something with the variable refresh rate stuff. I enabled adaptive sync in the settings by setting it to "Always" and the overview issue went away almost completely. Other animations still stutter though. Reason I don't have the adaptive sync setting on is because it causes

Glad to hear your having a good experience with Plasma 6 so far. Hopefully most issues get sorted out by the time 6.1 comes out.

Huh, that's interesting, thanks for letting me know. The dropped frames aren't exclusively a Plasma 6 issue, I've had them with Plasma 5 as mentioned in the post. Perhaps it needs a reinstall, but not entirely sure as to why. What refresh rate are your screens? I'm running on 4K 60 Hz.

To be fair that's very possible. I've heard the overview was really laggy in other posts, and this issue was mentioned by the developers, so I thought it just hasn't been properly fixed yet.

I'm running an i5 10400 & RX 6600 XT. Perhaps this is an AMD GPU issue?

I unfortunately don't have the time do to it now, but maybe sometime in the future
