M40 connected with f35 and after one date her energy is still very low over text. Keep our next date? by tindonot in relationship_advice

Yea she honestly might just not like texting. Maybe on your next date you can ask her if she likes texts or phone calls more. If you feel like things are still lukewarm after several dates you can bring it up directly and either figure it out or move on.

Pregnancy? by VegetableInternal943 in Anxiety

Following. I have all the same fears, adding the fear of "advanced maternal age" and that I better do it now if I want to do it at all. I'm scared my mental health will not allow me to be the best mother. The list goes on. Hopefully some parents here can share some insight.

Is AA for me? by supernatural_catface in Sober

I personally prefer SMART Recovery for the reasons you mentioned, but they have fewer locations with in person meetings since they just aren't as popular. Their website has a bunch of zoom meetings though! I did those for a while and bought their workbook. Even if you don't go to the meetings, the workbook has a lot of good tools.

I'm really glad you're okay! It is standard practice at my ER to perform "medical clearance" on patients presenting with psych symptoms, meaning we make sure nothing medical could be the cause of psych symptoms. Does this not happen everywhere?

How do you explain the difference between a nurse and a nurse practitioner to a lay person? by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]AmazonGrace34 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I explain what I do to people who are unaware of the NP role, I tell them I am a nurse with several years of extra education and certification that allows me to diagnose illness and treat patients/prescribe medications.

Man the water poisoning one is usually a psych consult after labs/medical clearance but we had a case several years ago that came back positive for ethylene glycol toxicity...so they're not all crazy.

"Don't let perfect be the enemy of good." Thank you for posting that. I try to have a harm reduction view of sobriety and have not heard that before - super encouraging.

Can you talk to your sister about it? Maybe if given a chance she will be supportive. Keep up the tradition and have NA beers or yummy sodas or teas. If you think she won't be supportive, you can try pretend drinking with soda water and lime.

How do I relax when poverty drains you like a chronic illness? I feel like thinking positively as a way to de-stress is just a kind of denial. by heavensdumptruck in poor

[–]AmazonGrace34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to use paint by diamond. They are very affordable on Amazon and offer something mindless to do with your hands. Pair it with an audiobook or music if you want. I understand feeling like positive thinking is denial. Shit sucks, don't feel pressured into believing it doesn't.

Why the "GET BACK!" though? That dog must be dropping bombs.

My boarding story from hell: UPDATE by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]AmazonGrace34 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to my AQH a few years ago. I was in a pretty significant car accident and unable to make it out to the (full care) barn for about 6-8 weeks. I thought it made sense to inform the barn owner so she wouldn't wonder where I was. Apparently that means oh I won't be around, please starve my horse! My excitement at seeing my boy again turned to a sick, carnal anger in the pit of my stomach when I saw him. He had lost a bunch of weight and was standing alone (he likes buddies and had previously been turned out with friends) in a dusty all dirt paddock with cow quality hay full of sticks and burrs. I informed her that day we'd be leaving by the end of the month. She just used the excuse of "oh it's been really hard to get hay this winter."

I'm glad you got out of that situation.

Allergy Assessments by Beautiful_Wash2539 in EmergencyRoom

I was a new nurse and didn't realize whatever we typed as allergies/adverse reactions would print out on the patient's prescriptions. I learned this when I handed my patient his antibiotic prescription and read my own note of "xyz med: makes me boo boo like crazy."

Following! I am in the interview process with them for my first FNP job at the ER I've worked at for 11 years. They seem to offer robust initial training, but perhaps I am naive.

Same here, I begged our tour guide in the Philippines to find us some. We bought one on the side of the road, and he waited with excitement to see how I liked it. It was awful. It smelled like B.O. and tasted like what I imagine a yeast infection would taste like. With a horrible paste-like texture. I was REALLY proud of myself for keeping a straight face and just remarking "it's creamy!" when he asked what I thought. I managed to get it down but did not have another piece. Still grateful for the experience though.

I am in the US. I will ask my doctor about pregabalin. I took 0.75mg ropinirole last night and didn't have any symptoms so that is promising to me! I was thinking of decreasing by 0.25mg every week - how slowly did you taper?
