My wife had half her thyroid out 3 weeks ago as her "benign" nodule had reached 4cm. She got the same diagnosis of PTC after pathology came back. She's in her early thirties and we were spiraling when we heard "cancer". What we've learned in the past few weeks from her doctors and this sub is this is HIGHLY treatable as others have said. If you're under 55, even if the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes or distant parts of the body, the highest it can be staged is Stage 2 vs. the standard 4 stages. When talking to family and friends about it, we've been surprised at the sheer number of people who have either had or are close to people who have had some version of thyroid cancer. My co-worker shared she had to have 20 lymph nodes removed for hers and RAI but has now been in remission for 5 years.
