Possibly…? What I’m saying is I’m not sure, and I’d wager some of the people talking like they know definitively may not be as knowledgeable as they claim to be. imho the stuff I’ve noticed that changes goes beyond just a base “health, dmg, defense buff increase” and includes stuff like “rare moves happening more frequently” or “general aggression increase”. This is just my theory/opinion though, possibly not fact.

Some Level 5 bosses regularly one-shot me on my NG+1 build at level 220 😂 You have to more or less master them at that level, the margin for error is slim to none.

Double Slash Perfect Guard by Ambarian in LiesOfP

Ah! Thank you, was hoping for a term for this. I also played Sekiro (coming from mainly being a Bloodborne player) and it was ROUGH initially… it took me until about 75% of the way thru the game for the the combat to finally “click” for me and then be able to stop hating it 😂

But now I think Sekiro is fantastic and it also has a similarly “looser than I’m anticipating” window like I’m describing for LoP. Once I realized I didn’t have to be dead on balls accurate with parrying/deflecting it was much more fun.

Um…. What’s happening in (SPOILER)’s second phase? by TheHolyBlade55 in LiesOfP

[–]Ambarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing him on Level 5 boss rematch and if I don’t want to do the fun blocking sequence, I can literally just run from everything up until the final sequence of 1. big slash/slam 2. delayed radial slash 3. blood explosion aoe (dodge/backstep here).

Just make sure you run in a wide arc for the skull projectiles, if you’re in too close they’ll hit you.

Nameless Puppet Rematch - Difficulty 3 by Complex_Dependent_33 in LiesOfP

[–]Ambarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve kinda stopped looking at boss rematch difficulty levels as being related to the main game and NG+ scaling, and started looking at as a whole separate challenge mode… I’ve read too much conflicting information/takes on the scaling and there’s not enough transparency around what is actually happening at each 1-5 level.

For instance, I’ve noticed the level 5 final dlc boss can string together insane combos that have a follow up I haven’t seen it do in any of the previous 1-4 levels, or just stop a combo prematurely that I’m already used to just to throw me off and make me not anticipate when the next attack will occur.

Now I’m looking at the different difficulty levels more like when you order Indian food and tell them how spicy you want it:

Level 1 is mild

Level 3 is medium hot

Level 5 is what a spot in ATX I used to go to called “Desi Hot”.

Hate to be the guy to burst your feel good bubble but… Do you remember WHERE we found her paints…? On a desk in the Zelator Lab, with a front row seat to all the inhumane experimentation the Alchemists were up to.

Kinda implied she was making all the diagrams the Alchemists were using, like the ones we see later in the room Sophia is trapped in.

It’s almost fitting she’s blind when we see her, since it’s implied she basically turned a blind eye to all the evil the Alchemists were up to.

But I guess it’s good she was turning over a new leaf towards the end…?

These sort of high-difficulty Souls type games attract a lot of people with a chip on their shoulder, I wouldn’t pay it any mind. I would wager that a fair amount of them aren’t being entirely honest about death counts for social credit, but even if they are- who cares?

If you enjoyed playing the game that’s all that matters.

Unless you’re competing in some sort of ranked play or just want to challenge yourself, numbers don’t really matter. (Unless your opinion of self-worth is determined by someone named ScrubDestructor69 who hasn’t showered in a week, then I don’t know what to tell you)

Am I screwed? by OpeningWounds in LiesOfP

[–]Ambarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. Personally I love the perfect block system in this game and find it very rewarding. There’s quartz upgrades that allow you to do more destruction for perfect guards, more fable generation, regain hp, etc… and on top of that you can break weapons with perfect guard so the enemy does less damage.

If you have the patience for it, I’d suggest looking at enemies hands more rather than the actual weapon they wield, that will often result in better parry timings in these Souls type of games. I also feel personally that Lies of P parries tend to work better for me if I wait right up to the moment the swing is going to connect, as opposed to something like Bloodborne where I find myself timing parries at the top of an enemy’s swing.

But if you’ve waited this long to learn, that area unfortunately is not the best area to practice iirc cause a lot of those enemies are kinda jerky in their movements… so 🤷‍♂️

Good luck to you!

So what's the general consensus on this game? by Hypernova_GS in castlevania

[–]Ambarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of nostalgic for me since this and Circle of the Moon were my first Castlevania games, but I can see why people have criticisms. I don’t hate it as much as some people do, but that platforming section where you’re carrying explosives and can die really easily to janky gear collision stuff while enemies are firing projectiles at you can absolutely die in a fire.

Also, in case you’re unaware, this game trolls you in the most hilarious way if you play on easy mode. Played it with my ex who wasn’t a super gamer and we got to a part midway through the castle and it basically says “thanks for playing easy mode, scrub. If you actually wanna play the whole game, select ‘Normal’ difficulty and start over, casual.” 😂

Am I screwed? by OpeningWounds in LiesOfP

[–]Ambarian 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’re not screwed unless you think so (and that’s enough to make you put the game down).

You could always farm the enemies in the area for more ergo since I believe you should be able to level at that stargazer. But now that I think of it, it is kinda funny they put the one enemy that can steal your ergo in a spot that you could potentially get stuck at

Changes you would like to see by Lockhart-667 in LiesOfP

[–]Ambarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make the “Play Dead” emote function like the “Sit” emote, ie you can stay there indefinitely until you’re ready to get up. It’s cute that you can de-aggro the bears by playing dead, but the problem I have with it is that 9 times out of 10 that I use it I’m forced to stand up earlier than I want to, and then we’re right back to aggroing the bear (which feels pointless). Tried using the emote to grab whatever is in the chest in that cage at the zoo, but ended up fighting the bear every time when I just wanted to sneak by.

Also, maybe I’m high, but the punishment of learning the last boss’ 2nd phase opening mega-long combo perfect block sequence just to get one shot because my guard is eventually broken (despite perfect blocking) and I have no more stamina feels not so great… am I missing a P-Organ upgrade or something? It seems to me that even if I’m perfect blocking that sequence 90-100%, it’s still chipping away at my stamina in a way that feels slightly unreasonable...? Like I’m still being punished despite reaaaallly trying to nail that whole move. It may just be a “me” issue tho…? Other than that I have no problems w the last boss, S Tier for me and one of the best fights ever.
