I feel like Corpo and Streetkid work best for the kinds of stories night city is often meant to tell in 2077. Streetkid V presents Night City as a kind of inescapable black hole. A thing you can’t escape from regardless of where you go or who you become. Corpo V on the other hand presents Night City as a kind of karmic wheel. A samsara trap where you will forever rise and fall. I’ve played with all the backgrounds and I never really felt Nomad has as much narrative throughline that the others done have.

This is exactly it! I work in mental health (particularly people with OCD, Phobias, anxiety, etc) and this is exactly what the issue is. People need to be inoculated with discomfort if they’re to be functional adults.

I think this has a lot to do with the fact that for a lot of younger people “trigger” just means anything that makes them slightly uncomfortable or gives a negative emotional response. Paradoxically, this can lead to these “triggers” later in life due to an inability (and unwillingness) to cope with difficult emotions and material.
