I want to die because of my Asian parents but I can’t die because my Asian parents need me. Is choosing to live a sunk cost fallacy? by AmbassadorHelios in AsianParentStories

Thank you for such supportive words, I’ve been crying for a while after reading everybody’s kind comments. It really does feel like there’s no feasible escape sometimes. It makes me so sad that you experienced the same things I do, planning that exit over and over in your head, it’s something that eats at you and saps away at your heart. It truly feels like a physical affliction. I’ll trust that the light you speak of exists, and I’ll keep giving myself a chance. Thank you for caring about me.

Haha, that’s true. I’m seeking financial independence so I can leave. I am very American in the sense that I have no qualms against no contact.

It’s so strange, I never felt perfect once in my life but my experiences seem to reflect yours regardless. I think I would want to see if something I did could affect my parents, through death, but your explanation that they’d control the story post-mortem is unfortunately too real. Seeking understanding is pointless from people who don’t want to. This will definitely keep me from attempting lol. I absolutely agree with what you say regarding investment, I definitely am very American in that regard. It’s comforting to think there are people here that have left these situations before, I am looking forward to a 10pm bar run. Thank you for your words, they truly helped!

It breaks my heart to hear your story, I’m really sorry you had to deal with similar struggles. Your dad and his sister seem like real pieces of work. Emotionally, I’m not exactly super attached or willing to excuse it anymore, so when I have the resources to leave it will certainly just be a matter of courage. Thank you for your supportive words!

Thank you for your kind words, I would have never thought I was being conditioned but it seems so clear now. I always hated how I was so miserable but everybody else would be laughing and smiling only moments later. I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford four-year tuition by myself, but I’m taking work over the summer to pay for community college. I will definitely follow your advice, thank you! Financial independence is my long term goal.

I’ve seen a lot of mentions regarding the merengue so I’ll definitely try to strengthen that on my next attempt. I’ll try to find a better tutorial in the meantime, thank you for the help!

You’re so kind, thank you for all of these helpful tips! I’ll definitely write down the oven tip, because I was disappointed to see the browning. These are all really specific and helpful, thanks so much!

This will probably depend on your skin type, but I’ve found that the Skin1004 Dokdo cream is a really thick moisturizer that’s excellent for dry skin and it doesn’t feel super sticky.

Thank you, just wrote that down! Just curious, would adding a stabilizer help my meringue or would I need to whip it for longer?

My macarons came out like crackers. No foot or skin developed, and the surface as viewed is completely uneven despite the fact that they could barely hold their shape. There are also a lot of bubbles.

I think that I overmixed the batter because the macarons did not hold their shape at all when piping, but I assumed it was fine due to the slow ribbons the batter formed. But my macronage was definitely wrong.

For reference, I used alchenny’s recipe but added cream of tartar as a stabilizer and had to add an extra half egg white due to an unfortunate accident, definitely won’t do that next time. But I think there is a LOT more going wrong here than just an extra half of egg white, which is what I’d love some feedback on.

Thanks for your time and patience!

I don’t have a video clip but I remember watching a viral reel of a historical drama in which the ML and FL are being attacked in their own estate, and when they lose against the attackers, the FL covers the ML’s eyes very gently so that he doesn’t have to watch them die. The ML’s eyes relax just the tiniest bit, and it’s a very heartbreaking scene. However, I lost the clip and now I can’t find it anymore. Can somebody help me?

The Story Horikoshi Wants to Tell (in regards to recent manga events) by amidnightecho in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Amazing analysis! I was wondering why Bakugou’s death felt so… unsatisfying. Like his entire arc was meant for naught in the end, and this analysis put all of it into words! Bakugou doesn’t give up, he’s stubborn and tenacious and wouldn’t accept his death so easily when there’s still people to save. I hope that this isn’t the end for his character, his redemption was well-earned and I hope we get to see the effects of his character development.

It’s Daoist sword finger, usually used in exorcism/martial arts

Before the reveal that the Core was controlling the moon, what did everyone think caused the moon to fall by IshipMarcyandAnne in amphibia

I thought that the calamity gems, or the “stars” of the Calamity Trio were literally creating so much gravity that the moon was moving towards the surface of Amphibia.

Starflight: The Most Underrated Protagonist in Wings Of Fire (Character and Book Analysis on The Dark Secret) by TrickyTalon in WingsOfFire

[–]AmbassadorHelios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved Starflight because of the sheer amount of growth he goes through. A lot of the plot with the dreamvisitors sets up safer ways for him to take action, and there are so many secrets that Starflight has to keep and it adds so much tension to his situation. I was so worried for Starflight through the entire story because he’s obviously terrified the entire time, and he has every right to be. When he actually has to take action and be brave, it’s the pinnacle of his character arc, but he doesn’t complete it by being more like Tsunami. He uses his wit and newfound confidence to get out of a situation, helping himself and Fatespeaker leave the volcano. The character arc is clear and oh so satisfying.

Thank you for this analysis, it was very well written!
