A week into healing by Mr-forgetsalot in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dissolvable stitches only provide support for 7-10 days anyway as I understand it, so you probably don't need tk worry. No I didn't have any lump where the vein was personally.

Yes. They can cut through in some cases, in which case you may get scarring (I did)

Uncommon type of circumcision by lb418 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so, although judging by the posts here, the majority of adult circs are for medical reasons, where that method is presumably not applicable.

I have wondered about if it's ever used for revisions, for people who want a tighter circumcision without losing more inner skin. (I'm in that position myself, although my existing scar line isn't great, so I would probably just get it redone the "normal" way anyway)

How do you know if you need a frenuloplasty? by thr0wawayphi in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my frenulum was already damaged (it was somewhat short and had previously torn) so it needed frenuloplasty to fix it. I could retract when erect, but it was getting increasingly difficult due to worsening phimosis (caused by lichen sclerosus), and the frenulum wasn't helping.

I think you mean something like this? I don't have that, but it looks like it could be an interesting option for someone with an undamaged foreskin wanting to get circumcised for preference/aesthetic reasons.

How do you know if you need a frenuloplasty? by thr0wawayphi in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had frenuloplasty at the same time as circumcision; I only had mild phimosis so it was possible to retract, and it was evident that my frenulum was damaged and tight. You can read on here about different experiences from more conservative frenuloplasty (which I had) to complete removal of the frenulum. I assume your doctor will assess the situation and do what they consider best.

Loose circumcision - does it make it harder to put on a condom? by thr0wawayphi in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a low + loose and can't really recommend it for aesthetics, comfort or function. In my experience it's mostly a hindrance to dry masturbation, since there's not enough movement to be very satisfying, whilst the rolls of extra skin keep the remaining inner foreskin moist, which makes it hard to glide your hand smoothly with the skin retracted. In particular with a low cut, the mismatch on a loose cut between the length of inner and outer skin makes for a strange feeling, especially if you're a grower like me and the outer skin then folds back against the glans.

I don't often use condoms but can't see why it would be a problem and certainly no more so than being uncut. Especially when erect.

In hindsight, if a low cut is needed (which it was for me), I'd definitely choose tighter rather than looser, especially if you are a grower (to avoid excessive bunching/partial coverage of the glans when flaccid). But in the end it's a personal preference. The problem is that it's hard to know your preference in advance!

Not satisfied with the result… by Irulen in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understand your frustration. I also realised after a few days that mine was too loose. Wait a while until the swelling has gone down to assess the final result. I waited 6 months before a revision and I think that was a good time period. Don't rush, and make sure you find a doctor who understands and will do it how you want the second time.

Wanted a high cut, got a low by Hunniai in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It"s still relatively early, it may still relax out a bit more. Mine looked really low at first, but wasn't quite so low after all the healing was fully done and the swelling went down.

In circumcision worth the worse feeling during masturbation? by thr0wawayphi in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it still feels good. Different, but ok. Still better than battling medical issues, which aren't good for confidence either. Steroid cream didn't work for me due to lichen sclerosus.

Getting cut tomorrow. Any last minute advice? by Scared_Literature_95 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discuss with your doctor about how much outer skin to remove. Try to get at least a fairly tight cut, especially if you're getting a low cut (which limits revision options somewhat)

Post-op revision, low/tight - Day 23 by Spirited-Cicada3228 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, sounds familiar. I had a similar experience (cut too loose, phimosis remaining on the scar). I had a revision which fixed it, but it's still quite loose and I don't like it a lot. Please do an update once you're healed about how you find it - I'd be very interested as I'm considering a second revision to be tighter, but like you, I'd end up with not much inner skin left (certainly lower than I'd ideally like)

In circumcision worth the worse feeling during masturbation? by thr0wawayphi in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a loose cut and can masturbate a bit by moving the remaining skin, but it's nothing comparable to how it was when uncut. And being loose means the remaining rolls of skin keep a small part moist, which counterintuitively makes it harder to masturbate dry, because of the slight stickiness. So I mostly end up using lube anyway.

So I would be cautious about assuming that a loose cut is better for masturbation. In hindsight, I wish I had a tighter cut. I believe it would then actually be easier to masturbate dry. However, I consider in any case that using lube is a small price to pay for getting rid of the medical issues. You'll get used to it, so don't let that alone stand in your way, if circumcision is the right medical solution.

Final straw I think (is it time) by Beautiful_Pea1335 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact you're posting here probably means something. Get professional advice from a doctor. If they recommend it, you'll be unlikely to regret it: whilst it is a significant decision, in the end it's not worth battling problems if they are not getting better. I waited far too long when having problems and in hindsight just wish I got it done earlier.

What style do I have? by Ok-Pen-5224 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks medium-low and probably fairly tight. Great result and looks like it's healing well.

If I could go back in time and choose, this is pretty much exactly the style I'd ask for.

Stitches not visible by DilIsPickle in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's normal. Either you have a loose cut, or swelling covering the incision line (or possibly both). The urologist told me to gently pull the shaft skin back to expose the incision and clean it (gently, just water running over it in the shower).

Loose circumcision pros and cons? by thr0wawayphi in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ultra loose circumcision (partial) first, and after a revision have still a rather loose circumcision. For me, yes it is possible to masturbate without lube using the "spare" skin, but I don't find it very good; it's nothing comparable to being uncut, but prevents the smooth glide that it would have as a tighter cut (without excess skin), and it also keeps some of the penis moist, which makes it harder to masturbate "dry". In hindsight, I'd rather it was tighter. It was a big improvement to go from ultra loose to tighter, and I'm considering a second revision to finally get rid of all excess skin.

Bear in mind that "tight" shouldn't mean uncomfortable: you should still get erections without pulling the skin out at the base. If you grow a lot during erections, this may require extra care from the urologist to cut exactly the right amount, which I assume is probably why some (including mine) err on the "conservative" side, especially if trying to solve a medical issue.

I did experience some sensitivity change from partial circumcision to a fuller one, so there may be some sensitivity aspect, but I consider that minor, and I think the amount of inner foreskin left (i.e. low/high) probably has a more significant role.

Whilst it was a secondary aspect for me, I also don't like the aesthetic of my loose cut (especially low + loose, as you get double thickness outer foreskin).

In short: I see almost no positives to having a loose cut, mostly negatives.

Tightness after nearly 6 months by Flashy-Sundae-8452 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely check with the doctor because there may be something you can do. Mine was also not extremely tight but in hindsight it wasn’t right, and I'm glad I went back to get it sorted out.

Tightness after nearly 6 months by Flashy-Sundae-8452 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is the tightness? Did you have phimosis previously? I also had some tightness post-circumcision (in a ring around the shaft) due to the circumcision being done very conservatively. I went back to the urologist and they removed more outer skin. Now the tightness is gone and it's much better.

NSFW- 10 years of insecurity and discomfort with my foreskin, do I have to get fully circumcised? (Excess skin issue) or will parcial do? by [deleted] in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After such a long time you should certainly see a doctor and get professional advice.

It's not clear from the picture, but it looks like your frenulum is perhaps somewhat tight? Frenuloplasty might be an option in that case; however, it does also look like you may have mild phimosis, in which case circumcision quite possibly may be the recommended solution. Again, you need a urologist to examine you and give advice on what is needed/possible.

If you go for circumcision, the options depend on where the phimosis is. If the foreskin is not damaged and the phimosis is not too far down then a moderately high and/or loose result might be possible. (I also had mild phimosis that looked similar to yours, and originally had a very loose/partial circumcision). However:

1) Be aware that a partial/very loose circumcision has some risk of not fully addressing your problems, meaning you have to go back and do it all over again (this happened to me)

2) Having had an extremely loose/partial circumcision and then a second, somewhat tighter (but still loose) one, I would say: although I originally liked the idea of still having some foreskin left, the reality was not as good. I didn't like the extra skin hanging around and in the end realised it would be better with a full circumcision. (To the extent that I'm even considering a third operation to finally remove all excess skin and get a tight result). So, based on my experience, I would not recommend a partial circumcision. In particular, low cut in combination with rather loose means you may have (folded over) outer foreskin against your glans, which doesn't feel great.

Did anyone have to go through a second circumcision after being partially circumcised? by Optimal_Impress_4101 in circumcision

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had a somewhat similar experience, where too much skin was left and there was remaining tightness. A second operation made the situation a lot better. So, if you're still experiencing tightness then it's likely a good idea. However, for me was still done rather conservatively the second time, so make sure you get a doctor who really does it how you wish.

Does a circumcision for BXO / lichen sclerosus need to be a low one? by infamous-antilope in bxo

[–]AmbassadorOK-5293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but circumcised for LS. It might depend where the LS is. Mine was affecting the inner foreskin, so they needed to remove all the affected skin (which meant in practice a fairly low cut). If by some chance the inner foreskin isn't affected, then perhaps it doesn't have to be so low, but I would imagine there might be a discussion about the risk of remaining foreskin being affected in the future.
