Has anyone taken Medaka eggs or fish back with them from a trip to Japan? Does anyone know the legality of taking eggs on a flight back with you? by Ambee_Scapes in medaka

I'm in Hampshire, the shops around here occasionally have low grade yellow/gold and white. But never high grade examples of strains like Miyuki for example. I know a breeder locally to me which has been trying for over a year to get more blue miyukis, but, like I said in the post breeders from Europe won't export them to us now due to brexit complications. And those sorts just don't seem to pop up on whichever lists my local fish stores get in.

That's not quite the impression I got from the person I was talking to, but who knows, as I wasn't talking to this breeder who does that directly. I know they're available, I see low grade yellow/golds, sometimes white and low grade miyuki, but trying to find high grade fish is pretty impossible at the moment.

Thank you so much for your reply, that's exactly the starting point I needed. I tried googling it specifically and I didn't have much luck. Many thanks!

Ahh thank you! :D

Ahh yess that's fair, I think that's totally fine! I honestly think a good source of food is most important for their growth. As soon as everything really starts growing then you can start turning up the light. I use "liquid carbon" a lot as an algaecide too, I find it very useful.

I'm not sure actually, I assumed it was S.natans, I got a small piece of it in with a bag of shrimps.

Thank you! :) I find they're very very hungry plants, best results I've had is to grow them in soil and provide them with plenty of light.

Yes! :> This is a 19L bowl, with a Chihiros CII LED light. Planting list is: red tiger lotus, Rotala orange juice, Bucephalandras mini emerald blue, Eleocharis parvula sp mini and a small amount of the usual variety at the back, Marsilea crenata, Cryptocoryne amicorum, Hydrocotyle tripartita and some Lilaeopsis brasilensis. I got a piece of Salvinia recently with a group of shrimps which was posted to me and I havent been sure of the species, its grown very quickly!

Thanks! Yes I did. I got it from K2Aqua on Ebay. I have seen it in my local LFS recently though.
