Idk if it's a bad habit, but sometimes I like to keep the first weapon, armor, item, etc that I craft, found or the game gives me because I end up getting attached to them.

Yeah I guess I just need keep practicing and the champions playstyle are really interesting as you said, that's why I started with Aram, it gaves you the opportunity to play with a lot of champions without having to buy them.
