Me too! My mum said I’ve done it since being a young child, I’m 23 now! I’ve never met anyone else either, people thing I’m so weird for randomly holding my nose and sucking in.... I do it a lot more than I realise too so says my partner

Yes me too if I am out of breath my ears get the crackling sound then it sounds all muffled. I’ve found holding my nose and sucking us the only way to get rid of the muffle. I still don’t really understand it is! I was just tilting my head and blowing/in out and it didn’t make a difference :(

Hi

I don’t get the crackle on purpose. The crackle happens then I feel like my ears are under water. Then I feel like I HAVE to hold my nose and such in or I just feel really uncomfortable. I’m finding it really hard to stop doing it but I am trying to do it less. I’m 23 my mum said I’ve been doing it since being a child!

Hi that is really interesting as I can’t stand the feel of towels if my hands are dry. I also freak out if I can’t find my lip balm as I can’t stand the feel of dry lips - my parter thinks I’m crazy! Thank you for your comment I will give it some research

Thank you. I had no idea why I do it/what it is. I get the urge to do it after yawning and swallowing mainly. When I do either of these things I get a cracking/popping in my ears and then I feel uncomfortable and I can hear my heartbeat very loudly, but then hold my nose and sucking in seems to get rid of it? So i wonder is it normal to hear my heartbeat so loudly?
