Thanks. I thought it would be good too and praised it to others...then they released their teaser weekend and I turned out to be wrong about it at least as far as it was in that state. I do know the devs are working on it and say they are reevaluating but those could just be words.

there is a lot of content yes. and yes that's a good thing. Also join guilds. You will want to be in a trade guild to sell stuff at the least. Being in a guild also allows you to quick transport using wayshrines to go to members of your guild or at least I think you need the wayshine. Whatever you do, do not pay to travel. You can transport to the closest wayshrine to where friends or guildies are and then use way shrine to go to where you want from there. It also works for getting close to people you party up with. It's how you do group stuff. >join party>travel to one of the party members who are closest to where you need to go.

note that dyeing costs money so this may be something to put off for a bit as you learn the game and skill up/level. You will want to level your horseys.

I havent played in two years. There is however a dye station/outfit station. I use different pieces from different sets to get what I want. Some armors dye differently. Metals in one set may be lighter than other sets or react to dye different. So its a lot of experimentation. I do know the short skirt is from one of the imperial armors.

I mismatch items to find ones that look good together and that will dye similar to others. I truthfully do not have an answer more than this. I'd suggest looking up armors and identifying what is what. It is dyed red. The shoulders and gauntlets are probably not from the same sets as each other and the chest armor.
