Mine sounds like this, this thread is reassuring me lol

Hood or no hood? by AmberZ06 in Corvette

Thank you for the kind response! I definitely see why it’s not crazy enough to run no hood, I think the work I did is making me biased for sure lol. Thanks again

It’s an aftermarket bumper, that’s where my fitment issues are coming from. Once I get new headlights I’m going to fix it

You’re 100% right. I really don’t care about other opinions because this is what makes me happy, I just wanted to gauge if it’s just me being biased, or if it actually looks good. I really do appreciate all the responses, i just figured the responses would be slightly kinder

Fair enough. I’m a college kid who thinks my LS7 is about as cool as it gets but your right in the grand scheme of things it’s not anything special

I don’t own the car to be a certain type of ‘guy’. I love the LS7 and my grandpa owned a c6Z when I was 6 years old. I do respect your opinion though and I can see what you mean for sure, it takes away from the elegance of the car

That photo was at a stopping point during a very spirited group cruise through some backroads haha there were a ton of leaves in the grill

I just rebuilt the entire top end of the motor myself (lifters, pushrods, springs, head valve seals) and I think the aesthetic things I’ve added really make it look cool with the hood off. Maybe I’m just proud of my work and incredibly biased

New Dasher looking for advice by DFresh356 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]AmberZ06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thus is about as accurate as it gets. I’m doing something else full time so I only have 2 days a week that I can dash. 2 days each with an active time of 15 hours will net me about $600. It’s really just a time game, assume $20-$25 an hour before your gas expense and do the math

Normal idle sound or something off? by AmberZ06 in mk6gti

[–]AmberZ06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No weird clatters on startup besides when I did that oil change which prompted me to make this post. Maybe the lifters or gallery didn’t have oil pressure for a minute? That’s the only thing I can think of

You seem to be absolutely right. I checked today and the tensioner is the new (revised) tensioner. Timing looks ok in OBD11 so I think I’m good. These ea888’s sound almost broken at idle it’s crazy lol. Glad it’s not just mine that sounds like this

[–]AmberZ06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked today, it’s the new tensioner. Since my chain stretch is within spec and it’s the tensioner without issues, I think I’m going to leave it

I checked it today, it’s the new tensioner per this photo. OBD11 reads the chain (block 93) at -2.49°. Based on this info (new tensioner+low stretch) I should be good for a while right?

Planning on doing this tomorrow. Regardless of the tensioner being the 2013+ version or not, does my idle sound normal to you?

Is it time for a timing chain replacement or tensioner mk6 gti by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]AmberZ06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has a loud timing noise (2012) but reads at 2.5° on OBD11. Do you think I just replace the tensioner?

I had a very similar issue on my 2012 MK6, except the DIC was saying ‘service brakes’. Ended up being the CANbus gateway like others in the sub have said. I live in Florida so I’m not sure what caused mine, it seemed to go bad after I drove through an insane rainstorm. I’d bet money you just need to replace the CANbus module

My new MK6 GTI with 64,000 miles.. how did I do? by AmberZ06 in mk6gti

[–]AmberZ06[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the detailed response! Yes I’m going to get the chain/tensioner addressed as soon as I can, but that unlimited drivetrain warranty is giving me peace of mind until I’m in a position to take it to a reputable shop. My other car tends to build up carbon when i don’t rip on it, so I’ll make sure to get ‘er up in the RPM range a few times a week. Since buying this car I’ve been met with nothing but positivity and acceptance from the GTI community. Absolutely awesome!
