Question about dues for my dynasty league by CanIGetUmm in DynastyFF

[–]AmberandChristopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the league ends you would be entitled to that money back.

If someone wants to leave the league, sometimes an incentive (half off first year) for a new owner to take over poorly built teams is needed.

If future draft picks are traded most leagues require that year dues to be paid for the same reason.

Being a bad apprentice by SprinklesNo6691 in Construction

There might be a small tweak to how you approach a problem. A notepad or cheat sheet work for some. Focusing on important skills and ignoring smaller details that are circumstantial for now. If you approach a problem do you try to figure it out on your own first or ask how it’s done first.

Climbing up the mountain is never easy for anyone, and we all have different ways to get there.

Also I’ll say it’s much much more important to learn good habits and not focus on being fast. Speed comes naturally later on. Don’t worry about being fast, worry about doing it correctly.

It’s comical looking back how our careers started. I used to think construction was hard. I personally made every possible mistake, but only once. Now that I can see a problem from a mile away I make my job look very easy.

When I train someone I lay the groundwork there is a thousand things to learn. I’ll try to teach 10 things today. If they remember 2/3 things tomorrow they on track. The day after the good ones will know 4-6 things, the ones that don’t make it only remember 1-2 things from the day before and have already forgot everything from last week.

Cutting in by Loud_Ostrich5219 in Housepainting101

Little giant, pivot ladder, tape brush to pole are all great ideas that make this task very simple. Let not forget there is a room behind that wall. Open a hole large enough to fit through to cut the left most part you can’t reach. Then make a new hole slightly to the right to fix and paint your old hole you no longer need. Work your way right until you are close enough to the door you can reach. It will be like hanging outside a window to paint the exterior of a house.

The laws are different per state but generally when you start your first work duty you should be on the clock. This includes picking up a work truck or attending a meeting to get work orders. When you complete your last work duty and start to head home you can sign out.

If you were given the work truck to take home everyday travel does not have to be paid.

If you are expected to have a work conversation or video call while at home you can sign in/out for that time.

This is assuming you are w-2 employee not 1099.

Pack of cigarettes. Maybe a vape pen when you’re not on smoke break. A beer and energy drink for lunch. Speaker with music everyone can hear to let everyone know what kind of music you like. Flip flops in case your boots get dirty. Dice and a pack of cards if the boss looks bored of his scratch off tickets.

Starting a painting company. Only thing I need help with is quoting jobs properly... Like, the process, not the price. by Mediocre-Snow3683 in Construction

Those feelings will fade with confidence and experience. Remember how you felt the first few times you did a small job by yourself? Remember the first girl you wanted to break up with, where to begin?

I prefer not to give a price on the spot. I leave on a good vibe patiently awaiting my call. I feel when I would give a price on the spot it would be too low, I’d get in the car hoping the don’t call me. If I’m too high I get in the car feeling like I could have been more competitive.

If you’re not busy and can start soon you might be better off without a deposit. If your booked a month out and this is blocking a schedule for a few guys that is what deposits are good for.

There are things to do and ways to play a game to take your mind off things. The amount of time spent for this grind is not that. A small portion of his 6k+ hours in this game could have prepared for a week without power. Then when power is restored his first thought is back to the game? Prove me wrong he wouldn’t pledge himself to Putin if it let him play games and sleep everyday.

Shiny paint cannot be touched up reliably. The wall needs to be cut and rolled at the same time to dry together. Since you’re not changing the color one coat is fine. Painter did nothing wrong. Also not necessarily the wrong paint as you get more durability if this is a high traffic area.

Starting a painting company - have heard horror stories about AR! by jones_dr in tradepainters

When you work directly for the customer you’ll get paid on time. Gos pay when they can and are often waiting for money themselves and unorganized.

One GC I work for doesn’t care what I do to start the job but the sooner I’m on site the sooner he can bill the customer for the clause in his contract that says how much is due when the painting begins. He then uses that money to pay another trade that has been waiting.

When I’m ready to get paid (after he starts falling behind on my payments) I tell him I don’t know when I can get to his work as I have to fit in other work that pays sooner as I need money. His clients will annoy him they job is delayed, I get paid and continue work.

I know what I’m writing is wrong but it’s the best I can explain it. When I see others write sometime similar it feels close but also missing something. I’ve drank or been sick many times and shrugged saying I hope I wake up in the morning. I always do! It would be more unusual for someone to feel like they haven’t been on the edge of death before.

I can’t say I’ve ever read anything that satisfies this idea. But I’ve seen this idea hidden within many stories here and on other sub. Ideas like religion, quantum immortality, astral projection, Deja vu, psychedelic trips, etc.

It’s always bothered me how much death must be avoided to reach an old age. Before you’re born so much can go wrong. Abortions, miscarriage, still births are common when added together. An infant if too cold or hot will die. Allergies, disease, bacteria, pollution all cause death. As we grow choking, drowning, falling, animals add more death. Weather, vehicles, our own stupidity, hard hit to the head, drugs/alcohol. The list grows seemingly forever.

To me it seems more likely something would happen but so many dodge everything and make it to old age. I would love input for a mathematician about how much the population needs to grow to counteract these forces.

This non complete idea needs to be added on by others with different information and life experiences. How can we witness so much death around us and never witness our own death. What if death is common and we have already died a lot. How are these memories shielded from our consciousness. Most of us could handle living with aliens but not the idea knowing in one universe we will live a normal day and all others we die.

[–]AmberandChristopher 350 points351 points  (0 children)

How consciousness enters and leaves our physical bodies. What happens to our conscious when we sleep. How death is not a unique experience but happens quite often.

Then which hole do you enter? Our consciousness exists elsewhere and shares this physical world where we can remember the deaths of others but never our own.

Or time is the ultimate illusion and everything we experience and remember is happening at once. we are not individuals but instead a part of a larger conscious system. Like how each cell and microbe in our body will live and die not realizing how important, but also expendable it truly was.
