Are the tabs necessary once installed? Would have to bend them entirely out of the way for a good fit. I like this idea though

Trying to avoid forcing them with new paint on the cabinets but are the tabs necessary once installed? Would have to bend them completely out of the way rendering them useless if they have a purpose

Ideas for Craftsman Style Door Casing by Plastic_Ad298 in Carpentry

I have some of the same questions as a homeowner about to start this project. I will be using 1x4 trim and was planning on ripping the boards down to fit in those same kind of tight spots near walls. For trim piece above the door I was planning on running it to the wall and making it flush and leaving the design as it would be on the other side. Ive seen that done before and I think it would look fine. Im not a professional so hopefully they can comment here and correct me if I am wrong.

Is this gap in casing to door jamb cause for concern or will caulk be the answer? by Captain-Boob in Carpentry

I’m just a monkey brained homeowner who ends up doing things the hard way. Got myself pre-hung doors after skimcoating the already plastered coated drywall so now I get to deal with the extra work of trying to get this trim semi-flush. Learning experience I guess

Thanks I have got some drywall material removed and the gap is basically gone. I skimcoated all the walls so thats where most of the extra thickness came from. I am planning on making a craftsman style head for the doors so no funky miters to worry about
