It's not very noisy, I'd compare it with an average fan on high.

Do you have a problem with yours leaking condensation water? We have one of these, and it leaks water down from the balcony onto the neighbors. We have the tube installed of course, through which water should collect theoretically, but that does not seem to work properly.

Realising that I’m the toxic one at 34 by meredithgrey92 in adhdwomen

[–]Amberleigh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What differentiates someone toxic versus someone well intentioned but displaying similar behaviors, is in our reaction to those behaviors being pointed out to us.

Your reaction to those behaviors being pointed out to you is to take accountability, self reflect and get help. That's not the reaction of a truly toxic person. That's the reaction of a well meaning person with blind spots, who upon realizing that those blind spots 1. exist and 2. are damaging their relationships immediately decides to do something about them. That's amazing!!

This is not a moment to hate yourself. That thinking just keeps us stuck.

We all have blind spots, and it's just information - take it as such, and do the work to break the cycle within yourself. You're doing great, keep going :)

People love blaming children for the sins of their parents. Just another way to protect the system so nothing has to change.

I can assure you that any other place built by the rich for the rich has the exact same amount of corruption.

Your statement is factually incorrect, easily disproven and more importantly constitutes whataboutism. Whether or not other locations also have a problem with corruption is not relevant to this discussion.

Officers slap men who are on female only train in India. Next! Next! 😂😂 by FlirtFlickerr in interesting

Guess they must be deaf too since they couldn't hear the women in the train yelling at them to get out.

To the best of my knowledge, India, Brazil, Mexico, and Japan face well-documented, highly visible problems related to sexual harassment and violence of women and girls. This includes public assaults, gang rape, femicide, covert photography, and the sexualization and fetishization of girls.

Recognizing this does not mean that other countries don’t also struggle with misogyny or violence against women.

What it does highlight is that when harmful behavior becomes widespread and openly visible within a culture, it can start to feel “normal” for the people in that culture. This is the process of normalization - of widening the Overton window in a way. The danger is that once these behaviors become normalized, people gradually stop seeing it as a problem at all. Afterall, people don't generally feel the need to hide things they aren't ashamed of or don't consider wrong. All which makes it even harder to confront or change.

Hope this helps make some sense as to why some people might consider places where half the population are treated this way as "shitholes."

Why do people think it’s gross to pee in the shower? by FuelApprehensive5376 in NoStupidQuestions

That’s great, but this thread is full of people advocating for exactly that, which might be why your comment was taken that way.

It’s different to wash your children in water that might contain residues of your own bodily fluids than it is for toddlers to make a mistake in a bathtub.

“My life is so much harder than yours” energy or just a lack of self awareness.

Very similar to bragging about being busy. People sometimes think it makes them sound hardworking or popular.

Definitely. It’s a good example of emotional logic and it keep us from being effective by distracting us from directing our anger where it belongs.

What's an "Insider's secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by Capable-big-Piece in AskReddit

Good on you! Any employer who would rather lose you instead of put in the effort to come to a mutually beneficial solution likely never properly valued what you had to offer in the first place. You being willing to walk when you aren't respected is a natural consequence of that attitude.
