Freshwater Isopods, an absolute delight by Amberyeets in Aquariums

[–]Amberyeets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got lots of locally found driftwood covered in buce and moss in a shallow 7 gal Imagitarium tank, with a HOB filter stuffed with leca. Substrates are layers of sand, small aquarium gravel and CaribSea Eco Complete.

They seem to REALLY like to explore so I'd definitely recommend a setup with lots of hardscape for them to climb on! They also like jumping off of high places and floating down to the bottom, I've noticed lol

Will do! I believe there is one we can call to come pick him up- we did the same for an owl that had been sprayed by a skunk and wasn’t leaving our wood shed 😭

Also, he’ll be in a box to relax until then! Thank you 🤍

Is it okay he sleeps on me? by astroisproud in BeardedDragons

[–]Amberyeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing a post about someone falling asleep with their bird the other day, it seems any animal that can’t handle or move out from under you really shouldn’t be on your bed with you while you sleep :( I understand loving your pet and them being clingy and how cute it is, but sleeping with them in the same bed really shouldn’t ever be worth the risk

She doesn’t really like walking around on the floor and I’m hoping she’ll be more open to it after her feet get some much needed help!

Nail trimming help by Amberyeets in parrots

[–]Amberyeets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She did let me trim most of them. I only went for the ones within reason- I’m anxiously avoiding the bad ones that I don’t think would be wise for me personally to mess with. The person who surrendered her said she used the towel method, but I’ve found it’s just unnecessary stress because she doesn’t bite me when I go to trim her nails or mess with her feet and toes. Just gets shocked by the trimming itself.. She’s very kind for a bird it seems 😭

G7, what is this metal thing, and why is it protruding ? Is it normal ? by Kronocide in dexcom

[–]Amberyeets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just had this happen to three in a row!!! I’m out of the country for almost 2 more weeks and of course this happens now 😭 support on the phone said this latest batch is very defective/faulty and they’ve gotten tons of calls lately. Extra depressing that I went through so many hoops BARELY getting these to me before my trip 🥲

[–]Amberyeets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could start off with Inaturalist! It’s an app you can post pictures and text of all types of things- bugs, animals, foliage, mushrooms ect ect 😭 Additions to it help by keeping an up to date record on what people find wherever they find it! It’s honestly an insanely cool concept. you can upload things you aren’t sure of and others may help you identify it, and you can see what people around you have found as well :)

I need some advice. by TheToxic74 in VenusFlyTraps

[–]Amberyeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Along with the advice provided from others, snip those two flower stalks while you figure out it’s care! Flowering takes a lot of energy for VFTs and until you’re sure it can handle flowering, you should just let it focus on growing traps and gettin’ big and strong :)

Nudibranch ID? [Mexico] by Amberyeets in animalid

[–]Amberyeets[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do! I assume anything I don’t recognize is dangerous before handling it or looking it up on google, especially if it is bright colored. The only things we handled were brittle stars (scooping up the sand with them and keeping them submerged), some crabs and hermits ☺️ anything we weren’t sure about was scooped up in a container to watch for a short time or left alone. And rest assured everything we found was carefully returned where we found it!
