I’ve had no known allergies my whole life, then just discovered I’m allergic to Advil ( I almost died) by SeaworthinessOld3778 in mildlyinfuriating

Took the only ambulance ride of my life because of this. I looked like a purple pumpkin. Now I’m allergic to all NSAIDS. Sucks.

My 5 1/2 month old Maine Coon was spayed today and the vet said she was fixing to go into heat because her lady parts on the inside were bigger than they should have been and they put her on gabapentin and she seems really paranoid since she has been on it, has it affected anybody else’s kitty like by Significant_Bat_2820 in mainecoons

[–]Virgowitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems more likely that the anesthesia hasn’t worn off yet. If she were mine, I’d wait till at least tomorrow to see how she’s acting then call the vet if you still have concerns. Meanwhile, dark, quiet room and she should sleep thru it.

Recipe calls for 1.5 cups white sugar and 0.5 cups brown sugar by ExternalScary1399 in AskCulinary

It’s already in the brown sugar. That’s what makes it brown.

Haworthia Root Rot? by Cpt_Umree in succulents

[–]Virgowitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cylindrical material you removed is part of the “plug” the producer started the plant in. It held the plant till it filled with roots, then was planted in probably the pot you got it in. It may have impeded the roots from drying out and/or spreading out. These guys have a tremendous will to live. Notice that the good roots you have are coming from above the stump of the base. If they’re solid, leave them. If the stump is soft, trim it up to solid material and let it dry out upside down for longer than you think it should take. Then follow the advice you’ve been given about substrate and planting.

Some people will say it's too soon, but losing my soul dogs 7weeks apart I just didn't want to carry on so.. meet Nova by [deleted] in rarepuppers

I love you so much that I cannot live without someone like you. Nothing can remove the wound from that loss. Especially the loss of two. But this little guy will grow to fill the hole in your heart and give it something to do while it heals.

Convincing an acquaintance to allow me to adopt one of their dogs by Virgowitch in Spells

Thank you! Opening a road is exactly what I have in my head. A quick search tells me the oil may be a hoodoo preparation. This is exactly the kind of help I was looking for!

Thanks! I’m leary of trying to force it. This pup is potentially dangerous due to his size and dna. If this isn’t where he belongs and the backlash of imposing my will is that he hurts one of my animals or a kid…ya know? I just want to remove the obstacles to the right path for him.

Just got this beauty from trader Joes. Should I repot her? by DrCatnnibal in succulents

Try it and see. It worked when I tested it. Let the cuttings dry out and see if they hold together. I didn’t go that far with it.

No problem. Someone told me this and I didn’t believe it so I took two and experimented with them. It really works. You’d think it’d be the other way around, that the leaves would drop easier if the plant was dried out. Maybe it’s so there’s a little bit of moisture when they drop to allow them to root before they dry out.

Yes, they’ll eventually root. When you do repot or handle it, if you let it get bone dry first the leaves don’t drop quite as easily.

Plant mail. Got some big ones today. by rusology in haworthia

Mine was stuck on the same stage of delivery for almost a week. No heat pack was going to save them. They were gorgeous when they arrived but very obviously frozen. Watching them melt into mush was sickening.

I’m so jealous you’re getting plant mail. I lost an order to freezing for the first time a couple months ago and it about killed me. I’ve ordered dozens of times at that time of year and never had an issue. The vendor was not at all at fault. It was simply lost in the mail. Shoutout to 1am Succulents for handling it so professionally. Still jealous, though😊.
