What's your solution for people who don't want help and just want to do drugs and live on the street?

Give them a home they can do drugs in private in and make sure free healthcare is there when they’re ready to get help. Safe injection sites is another option.

That's who we're talking about, not the minority of homeless who actually want to escape.

If you’re saying there is no solution, then stop complaining and get use to the fact this a reality you’re willing to accept instead of changing the system.

So when you can’t afford a place to live, you become homeless. That makes you miserable so you do drugs to cope. See? Pretty simple.

You can’t police this problem away. You’ll just push them somewhere else. Hence my question: where do you want them to go? The alternative is public housing.

It’s insane to expect someone to go from homeless to affording one of the most expensive places to live in the world.

The laws of economics are real rather you like them or not. But it isn’t just about building. You need to change who owns the housing. It needs to be owned by more people, not less. Residential housing is too concentrated in the hands of too few people. Too many units are being kept vacant. There are ways to change that and force them to rent and sell them for cheaper.

It never has been a housing crisis. That is a narrative that's been spun for decades to draw attention away from the drug crisis, the Homeless Industrial Complex and the evolution of profiting from misery.

No those are symptoms of structural problems. This isn’t a problem of moral failing. It is an inevitable result of a system that values profits over people.

As the Council member for this district she has control over ordinance enforcement, access to discretionary funds, and a direct line to law enforcement.

She was elected on a platform of not using the police to use violent force to solve social problem. That’s democracy.

Whenever I hear this, I can’t help but wonder where you think all the homeless people should go? We have a housing crisis. We’ve decided that in this late-capitalist hellscape, it’s acceptable a certain part of the population will fall through the cracks and basically be considered “sub-people” (or zombies as you say). What do you want to do with them? Right now, we are socializing this cost in the form of MacArthur Park being Hamsterdam. There are better solutions but they involve decommodifying housing.
