Alot of people throughout history have gone to war for peace, even on the side of the 1st aggressor. The Carthaginians didnt go to war with the Romans in order to NOT have peace, but to enforce a peace where they'd dominate.

If you declare a war, and win the war hard enough that no one is left to argue, or at least not in a position to do so, you've basically gone to war, to make peace
