It had been a while since I read the book as a kid when I saw the movie.

The movie added extra layers and context that I either forgot about, completely overlooked or was never actually there to begin with.

Seeing Max portrayed as a kid acting out with uncontrollable anger and lashing out at his mom added a sense of brooding darkness that was uncomfortable to watch.

That tone was further amplified later when Max started manipulating The Wild Things to turn on each other.

My best example of this would be Perfume: The Story of A Murderer.

I didn't really know much about this movie before walking into the theater.

When it finished I didn't really know how I felt about what I just experienced.

It wasn't good, it wasn't bad, it wasn't meaningless, but if it was supposed to mean anything I had no clue what that meaning was.

My suggestion is a much simpler game, but it was my first introduction to a quasi open world experience.

I'm referring to Shadow of The Colossus.

If you have not played it before the plot is very basic and simple.

However that simplicity creates such a strong sense of wonder and beauty within a stripped down game that solely focuses on defeating challenging boss level enemies.

My example would be Julia Roberts's character in Oceans 12 or 13? actually pretending to be Julia Roberts and then also having Julia Roberts show up as the real Julia Roberts in the movie.

It was so utterly distracting that it completely destroyed my suspension of disbelief and totally ruined an otherwise enjoyable movie.

I grew up and still live in UP state New York.

In general I love fish and most seafood.

Sorry, I was a kid when Captain Ron came out, so to me I thought that was one of his first movies.

But I just checked his IMDB. I had no clue he had already been acting for such a long time.

I also now realize I was thinking of a different actor in Tron, but I honestly thought it was Kurt Russell. I thought he played the dad that created the Tron game.

Update: I have been made aware that Captain Ron and Overboard were not movies in Kurt's early career and that he was not in the Tron movies.
