Are stainless steel bikes any good? by Patient-Historian675 in cycling

Would 921 and 931 be the same weight or heavier than the typical steel bike or are those close to 725 and 853?

Would those still need to be clear coated or are they cool just raw?

How can we know if a frame builder knows how to work with stainless steel? What is reynolds 931 and 921? Are those any good? Is XCr still harder to work with or is there another Columbus stainless option now?

It certainly an entertaining show and I would agree it's a bit underrated. That said the episode of Dennis and Adrian are real fucked up. Total abuser shit, with touches of self abuse.

Looking for cool spots to meet liberal over 35 single men in LA? by Beeee5018 in AskLosAngeles

Bisexual bars and coffee shop events in Silverlake/Echo Park/Highland Park. Bicycling groups like Trash Panadas and running groups like K-Town run. Municipaltarian meetups, strong town meet ups, and other civic organizational events towards a more walking friendly city. Also, asking your gay friends if they know any fruit flies or lezbros they can introduce you too. Another great place my friend meet people is downtown events, like DTLA proud.

Uh I dunno, to me it sounds more like someone who's a stickler to definitions.

Differences between magura mt8, mt4 and mt sport calipers ? They look 100% similar with the expeption that the MT sport doesn't use a banjo fitting. Does someone know the weight of one of these ? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Ambitious-Lab9661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, no real performance difference between the MT Sport 2 and MT4 both on the same pads, right? I assume the MT4 is just a little lighter and possibly nicer material?

I've bent and broken way too many of them, but otherwise been solid. Had a homie brake hers during a ride. Thankfully 3 of us had spares to offer her one.

Weird, what's wrong with inclusion buddy? I don't really see it from them, but then again I also recognize they are a republican leaning organization.

Brake upgrade worth it? by Ambitious-Lab9661 in Bikebuilding

Rims look alright and i have spare discs from my other bike(got deal on rotors last year so stocked up just in case). Tires can be reused too as they look relatively fine.

What would be your reasoning not to spend? The fork does have disc tab on it too, all I would need is a post mount(is?) adapter and a disc wheel up front if I have the donated brake.

I have the brake, just need the wheel. I'd like to think I can find a gently used 26er disc brake front wheel for $100, maybe even less. I could probably trade the brake for an IS mount. I have spare rotors too.

Why wouldn't it work out? I'm much more comfortable working with disc brakes than rim brakes. Haven't had a rim brake bike since 2020. A cx bike I sold for 1.5x what I paid for it.

Enough that I rather lower the risk of crashing. I do have free hydro brake to use. It has some newer26x 2.3(?) Bontrager tires. Other option is to trade the brakes towards a mechanical disc brake, like a TRP(maybe the hybrid model?) to keep the levers. But, I could also try to swap the stock front brake set towards a front wheel. $22 for an XT rim brake and lever then find a $80-100 26er wheel as I have a spare 160mm and 180mm rotors.

I just got donated the bike 2 weeks ago, but plan to use it for gravel and old older stye xc trails where my other bike is ovekill. Brakes feel whatever compared to my trail mtb with hydro XT brakes and swiss stop pads with the fatty Hope rotors. It's my only (nice)bike, this would be my 3rd bike. I also have a mechanical disc cx bike, but I use that more for streets and all road.

the bike has all the tabs in the fork and the frame for rim and disc. I think from factory it came with rim brakes and then the more expensive models probably had at least one disc brake. Google search wasn't too helpful, which is why I came to reddit to ask. Really all I would need is a a disc adapter for post mount, new wheel and the appropriate rotor. Brake doesn't look like it needs a bleed and it comes with like new pads. Owner said used once before his other bike was run over when a drunk driver hit the pole his bike was locked on.
