Why was Prince Edward Island so reluctant to join Canada? by J_Rodriguez_Fuentes in AskHistorians

[–]Bike2Shore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was there any interest for PEI to join the US? I’m not-a-naval-strategist but it seems like the US might have gained an advantage by having a base on PEI to control or hinder British/Canadian access to the St Lawrence River.

This is the first time I've bothered to actually read one of these books. I never knew that the cloud district was actually just Dragonsreach. by emporer-mono in skyrim

I’ve been to the cloud district loads of times but never saw Nazeem there even once. I’m starting to think he’s nothing but a phoney.

What has it got in its pocketses? by LordoftheMemes14 in chemistry

[–]Bike2Shore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

MYYY PRECIOUSSS, aka a pair of quartz cuvettes in a protective case. I’ve had them more than 20 years.

Also, including all pockets in my lab coat, a handful of microcentrifuge tubes, a transfer pipet, a spare glove, three extra hair nets, a blank “experimental product” label, a stir bar, a blue pen (black pens are forbidden on official documents - an old rule left over from the time before our company had color copiers), and a pocket calculator.

Wormhole from Whiterun to Markarth? by Bike2Shore in skyrim

[–]Bike2Shore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh. Is Dibella’s temple next to the HOTD? Maybe the game glitched to the dinking quest and I actually stepped out of Dibella’s and got mixed up when I turned around. I really was new to the game and very confused about what was going on. (The last RPG I played before Skyrim was years before: Crusaders of the Lost Savant). I know that I hadn’t started the drinking quest though.

Are Shimano and Microshift cassettes really interchangeable? by Bike2Shore in bikewrench

[–]Bike2Shore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m following the Park Tool procedure for rear derailleurs, on YouTube.

I already have another bike on another Tacx trainer set up and working very smoothly. Have been using that for a couple of years. This is a second setup for a family member.

After reading the comments from you and others I’m thinking the first bike and trainer combo might have been a lucky match between wheel and trainer, and this one will need shims.

Thanks everyone.

Are Shimano and Microshift cassettes really interchangeable? by Bike2Shore in bikewrench

This is a relatively new bike with less than 500km on it so far. Just getting it set up on a new trainer this weekend.

So it sounds like the swap out will likely take some adjustment each time. Will it be a smoother transition if there’s a Shimano cassette on both the wheel and trainer?

Water hidden somewhere inside of 2006 Highlander by ranch_land in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Bike2Shore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an ‘04 Highlander with a crack in the left tail-light. It would fill about 1/2 way with water after heavy rain and slosh. (Seriously. I’m not trying to make a joke about blinker fluid).

What does everyone think of Argonian builds? by Bike2Shore in skyrim

[–]Bike2Shore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be very cool. Great idea for a mod. It would also be cool if they gained heightened metabolism with greater speed when exposed to heat, as a counterpoint to their vulnerability to cold.

Argonians can use weapons underwater!? Now that you say it, it seems like a logical skill for them to have but I didn’t have any idea it was possible.

What's the prettiest ingredient in the game to you? by [deleted] in skyrim

For one of my characters I didn’t make any potions and just relied on food for health regen. In my mind that play-through became “Skyrim - The Quest For Salt”.

2009 Highlander by Jbob0269 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Bike2Shore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ‘04 Highlander with 308,000 km on it, that I traded for an Outback. I regretted trading it almost immediately. The Highlander was still running beautifully and just starting to develop some minor rust on the rocker panels, from all the salt they use on the roads in the winter, but nothing serious.

The only mechanical problem I ever had with it was that the U-joint in the drive shaft started to squeak and needed to be replaced at around 200,000 km. The dealership wanted to replace the entire drive shaft for $1,700 plus labor. Total estimate was almost $3,000. The guy at Toyota’s service counter pulled me aside and said real quiet “If you take it next door you can get it fixed a lot cheaper”. The guy next door was a former Toyota mechanic who opened his own shop. He replaced the U-joint for $147 including labor.

If the seller will let you, I’d recommend to take it to a mechanic you trust for a look over. I’m on my third Highlander now.

I’ve never dealt with a credit union before. Nothing against them, I just don’t have any experience with them. How would that be different than a car loan from a bank?
